yah they are... rofl, the idiot at midas mounted them wrong, said he had never heard of a directional rim so i'm stuck with this ghetto setup until monday wooohoooo!!! thax for posts ppl!!!

new vid!

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....5-11D4B2BD6B42

should of had the cam closer to the pipes, but i thought it would come out ok anyway, sounds alittle muffled (no pun intended)but you can really hear the Flowmaster sound in this vid alot better then the takeoff vid, trust me no cats.... this thing is LOUD, but i can't hear them over the stereo, which i'm in the middle of upgrading, just waiting for a couple of warm days to cut the bed and cab to install my 2 12's... BOOM BOOM woe of having a standard cab truck...

probably going to go with a new setup on the mufflers soon, going to Flowmaster 40 (original 2 chamber) with H-pipe to give it that awsome crackle when you let off the gas to de-accelerate. I love having friends at a muffler shop, lets me use the lift when they're not busy, makes life soooooo much easier!
waiting for my S/C to come in, can't wait to hear how it changes the sound!!!!!
Anyone have any custom mufflers that you've made(built from scratch)? post the plans and how they sound!

will try to get out Sun or Mon and get some burnout, full blown revs and takeoffs recorded for everyone. oh the joy of living in the country, lots of old deserted roads

hahah and i though this topic was dead... lol

hmmm... kinda hard to do if you don't have the Vortec heads, can't really say what it will sound like with the first gen head... but the setup is as follows...

Edelbrock shorty headers with 2" collectors and then run without the cat and the 50 series Flowmaster was placed with the inlet just past the start of the bed ( right behind the cab) the single outlet was y'ed into duel 2" pipe and the run to 10 inches of the bumper, and then 3 x 10 echo tips were welded at a 45* angle....

as i said thats the setup with vortec heads, so not really sure what the sound would be for yours...

planing on redoing the system to true duel with H-pipe so it will give me that awsome crackle when ever I let off the gas...

also going to upgrade my heads this summer to some 2001 model heads they sound even better and will then have roller rockers and heavier springs.

have fun thx 4 the comment

oh yeah, the engine light was on because i cut the oxygen sensor to install my headers and just have never got around to replacing it, for some reason it doesn't affect my gas mileage but not complaining

Re: Vids

Hey man sounds bad ass.

I have a 98 sonoma with the 4.3 Vortec stock and I want mine to sound alike. Do you think the 50 series flowmaster alone would make mine sound somewhat like yours?

Also my truck tops out at about 96 MPH. It seems like something cuts off my fuel supply at about 96 and I am forced to slow down . Do you know what that is?

I beleive it's called a governor....it cuts the engine off, It can be removed with a reprogram chip (like JET) they are around 200 bucks.

yah as said above it's the freekin governor i have the same thing.

the biggest change in sound over a stock 4.3 is putting on headers. read the full list of parts that i used and it will sound the same, but with the 98 heads yours will sound even better... i am a big fan of the 98+ heads, throw some good headers on them and run high flow cats ( to keep from throwing a code) and 2.5 inch pipe and you'll outrageous.

i need to post a new vid cuz now i've taken the tips off and dumped the muffler right behind the axle... personally i like the dumped sound but it's much louder then with the full pipe and tips.

keep bad comment to yourself and bad comments won't get made. It's called politeness, they offer free classes of it in the hood.

Re: Vids

I have a 94 4.3 TBI with a straight pipe in place of cat and a single inlet-dual outlet 2 chamber 40 series flowmaster. It sounds damn near the same as Zelda's. It doesn't "cackle" as much when trottleing down though. If it's like mine, the interior resonance can be a little bothersome at times. But it's the only way to trick idiots into thinking you have a v8 conversion.
