thumbgun tool

has anyone seen this before? the creator came by my work today and demo'd the device. the device straps onto a standard buffer and automatically dispenses the compound with the press of a button. the point is to save compound as well as time while buffing. has any one used/seen this? opinions? my boss ended up buying one for our detail department to try out. just wanted to get opinions.

Re: thumbgun tool

In theory it sounds good, but I dont think it would work good. The tube sticking out over the end looks like it could/would get in the way. Also, if you dont use it everyday the compound is going to dry in the tube and clog it. Another thing to look at is the fact that when you buff you usually use more than one compound and that would be a PITA to change out.

x2 that is going to be in the way for sure. And your also not always buffing on flat surfaces. I don't need my buffer to be any heaver when I'm buffing the sides of a car. And how well does it even work dispensing compound on the side of a car? Good idea though.

Re: thumbgun tool

we only pid $100 for ours and he threw in an extra bottle for free. the tool comes with two bottles. it's suprisingly easy to change. i used it for a few hours at work today. when i was ready to switch materials, i'd just change the bottles and run the compound that's still in the tube in to the other bottle until i saw the new compound coming out. does that make sense? and as for the weight factor, that was my main concern. honestly, had no idea it was even there. it ways less than a pound.

So you're wasting the compound in the tube on the trash?

Re: thumbgun tool

Wow, if that thing actually works, that guy is going to be rich. I've been a detailer for over 8 years and thats one of the things i hate the most. Having to stop so many times to grab the bottle, and throw some beads of compound down, then put the bottle down. You could save alot of time with that thing. I'm not to sure on his selling point of saving compound though. You're going to use the same amount either way. Thats how i see it.

Now he just needs to make the same device for a pc polisher for the weekend detailers and advertise on the detailing forums. The guys on those forums buy everything from the sponsers.

Write up a good reveiw on that thing after you've tried it out. I'd like to have one of those if they work good.

So there is a chance of mixing compounds? Still not sure I'm buying it, then again what do I care I don't buff cars everyday.
