Re: the best deal you ever got

I bought my 96 S-10 for $1,200 in 2003. It had 130,000 miles on it at the time. It has 243,000 on it now and I just tore the engine down for a rebuild only to discover that it didn't really even need it! HA! I bought the truck in Oklahoma. Drove it to Oregon, South Carolina, and all over the lower 48. Last year, I drove it to Alaska. It is by far, the best deal I ever got on a vehicle.

Re: the best deal you ever got

where to start...

first car 80's cougar = free
2nd car, nissan sentra = free
3rd car, 96 ranger ( lowered, custom rear roll pan/ plexi rear window the plate in it) = free
4th car, older pontiac bonneville = free
5th car, super clean, completely mint 85 chevy caprice ( was great grand parents ) = free

but the BEST 3 BY FAR were when i was dating an attorney

08 Mercedes C300, 00 GSXR-750 ( chromed, SUPER CLEAN, TONS of engine work) and a 2000 beater Yamaha R6 = FREE

i have made it to 33, and i am yet to buy a car.. I have bought 3 houses... but not a car.. ( and yes, the body dropped noma i had, i didnt front the cash for it either.. lol)

Re: the best deal you ever got

Just picked up a Craftsman 10" Radial Arm saw today. It is no doubt from the mid-90's, but is in absolutely EXCELLENT condition.

Looks like there have been a few cuts made with it, but other than that, it looks way better than I could ever have imagined.

This is back when tools were made in the USA, and they weren't afraid to use metal parts....as opposed to now, where your saw is imported from China and nearly all the metal parts have been substituted with plastic!

Got it for $100 cash.

Bought a 93 Chevy 2500 ext cab yesterday for $100 has a perfect body but motor has a blowed head gasket. He said he had to hitch hike 4 hours home and to tow it home would cost $300 so he said he didn't care about it that bad.

Re: the best deal you ever got

Both of my s10's were good deals I'd say.

My dad found me my 84 2wd 2.8 longbed when I was 16 for $600. Truck had 60k on it with the only rust being a dent on the bed. I still have the truck and still haven't had it painted. Paint I'd say is a 5 or 6 out of 10. We lifted the truck up on the rack when I first got it and the underside of the bed still had the glossy paint on it from the factory.

As far as my 95, my uncle called me the summer that I graduated high school. The truck was red, and had the 305 in it that sounded killer. I had always made it known to him that I wanted the truck real bad. So, he called me and told me I could have if I paid for the front end parts for his new truck he got (early 90's k1500 4wd). I added up the sum of the parts and they totaled just over $500. Not bad for a v8 s10 with zero rust on it.

That's about it. My luck's not that good.

I once scored a 1982 Renault Le Car for free, now I know its kind of a stupid car but it was a rag top in mint shape with only 45,xxx miles and didnt have a scratch on it. It was pretty dang fun to bomb around in too.

Re: the best deal you ever got

I bought my blazer for 1400. Not necessarily a super good deal. But is being a 2wd and out of state truck made it somewhat rare.

But for only needing so rear brakes and it roasting a wheel bearing on me. It has had no problems in the 6 months ive owned it. Put about 400 miles on it a week between daily commute and my weekend/summer job.

Re: the best deal you ever got

F*ck that I'd rather have a crew cab dually bagged on 24" semis and be able to haul people. Someone can buy the 454 and do as they wish with it though.
