Slot Car Drag Racing?

Anyone on here from the Great Lakes region drag race 1/24 slot cars? I am in Michigan and looking for some other tracks in the Great Lakes to go race at. I like racing at our home track every Saturday but its nice to go out of town and race too.

Re: Slot Car Drag Racing?

What makes one car faster than the other? Traction and driver reaction time mostly, I assume?

Re: Slot Car Drag Racing?

You can tune up a electric motor just like a internal combustion engine. I have some "Super 16D" size motors with no advance timing and stock china motor brushes and springs that are good slow bracket cars. Throw a good blue print job on that same motor and advance the timing and it can go a lot faster. Tire size, gear ratio and watching the condition of the traction compound on the track are all part of it too. Also there is Group 20 and 12X motor sizes that are faster. A Group 20 in a hard body car is really fast, .890 or even faster in 62.5 feet.
