Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

For the most part they are primarily decent American made tools that have a much easier to swallow price tag compared to snappy matco etc. Quality has seemed to slip a little since they have broken the relationship they had with Facom but over all they are still a decent bang for the buck.

Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

All my stuff is Snap-on, but I can't say anything bad about S&K. They have some decent quality hand tools. Depending on your application, they may be a dream, or they may fall short. I don't think they cover much outside of the basic hand tools.

No S&K is not the same as Mac, Stanly tools owns Mac and S&K has nothing to do with either of them with the exception that Stanly bought Facom which is what lead to the break up of the partnership between S&K and Facom.

Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

I use SK scokets every day the only one I have broken is my 3/8 8mil. but yet again I use it on my 3/8 impact gun.. but all the others I abuse daily and there great !!
Also the wrenches are good too. there long box wrenchs are more than half the price of snap-on and are just as good
don't know about the ratches I or nobody in the shop uses them

Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

SK, as a full time tech, i use a lot of their tools. Snap-on does make some stuff better in M/O but you dont need a box full of snap-on

No SK is along with a few others, I will look it up and see. MAC tools are made by stanley though. Most of my tools are snap-on and I have a MATCO box. MATCO is the best deal by far. They make excellent tool boxes and air tools for a fair price as far as professional tools go.

Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

S&K tools are nice, I have a 20 year old set of impact sockets that see weekly use and not one has broken yet. To the people who say Matco and Snap-On are overpriced, you can't put a true value on how much good tools will mean when in the work field. I've talked to many techs that use different brands, and what you see on your car compared to a customer who hasn't had their oil changed in 15k miles or their sparks plugs changed in 120k miles is completely different, tools will do half the work for you.

Re: SK tools ??good /bad??

I have busted my fair share of SK stuff.. ill always be a diehard SnapOn lover.. but my SK stuff isnt too bad. i have broken more Mac Edge junk sockets then SK. My SK chrome adapter took 700 Ft/lbs when torquing some trailer U Bolts where my Snap On one broke 3/4 of the way of being at full torque.
