Rc Thread
I figure since there's obviously a fairly large amount of interest on this forum regarding rc's that I'd make a place for us to gather our vehicles. Feel free to post any pics/stories/info on ANY rc...
So here's mine... Mine is a Traxxas Rustler xl-5... I've got it on LIDAR(Laser)...not Radar.. at 27 mph but i didn't have my shell on so i'm hoping it'll go a touch faster with the shell on.... also not a fully charged battery... Rusty a couple days after getting it... ![]() ![]() Pics from this morning when bashing around in some wet grass... ![]() ![]() and somehow broke the front driver's side shock mount... but was able to re-thread it and works perfectly even after a few small jumps... ![]() I'll try to get some wheelie pics and jumpin pics when i can get my wife to come snap a few... hard to drive and take pics at the same time... |

Re: Rc Thread
This is the first and only RC car I ever purchased that had to be assembled. I have had it since 1995. I need to get new batteries as they no longer hold a charge. I remember paying $100 for the car, not including the speed control, servos, controller, batteries, or charger.
Not an actual picture of mine, but it's the same. I guess it would be considered vintage now?

I had something like that super hornet, except it was a radioshack special... it was quick.. atleast it was to me.. probably only hit around 5 mph... lol! and it didn't have any parts to do maintanence on... if anything broke you threw it away and bought another... |

Re: Rc Thread
We used to call that Rekitting LOL I was never into planes but had guys I worked with that used to be. We used to bring our RC cars to work and race in the parking lot at lunch. We'd play chicken then go to the hobby store after we were done to buy replacement parts. It's amazing how much stuff has advanced since I first got into it when I was about 13 years old.

Re: Rc Thread
hmmm, must not have been actual owners lol. for 150,theres nothing to gripe about it. get on rccrawler.com,they have a redcat section with alot of satisfied owners. i beat the shit out of mine on a daily basis, only thing that has messed up was my rear axle gears( plastic,so its prone to strip) but i replaced them with steel gears($18). |

I used to be hardcore into Nitro RC. Mainly 1/8 buggy. Ran the RC pro series a few years then got out of it.
My old TTR-EB4-S3- also known as a true money pit. Had over $2000 into this one buggy ![]() My revo that I built solely for running long RC pro series mains. It was never a full truck. I started out with just a 3.3 chassis off ebay and bought different parts, wound up with a CCE? carbon fiber chassis that I busted in florida ![]() ![]() about 3k there And my short lived truggy days ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hot bodies Lightning Stadium pro kits both with EVERY kingheadz part made and a few one off custom parts they made during my short sponsorship with them. |

Re: Rc Thread
I used to race RC cars. Nitro and Electric. My favorite was the 1/10th scale gas trucks. I've flown RC stuff for a couple of decades now. My latest contraption is a quad copter. Not only that, but I fly it using FPV (First Person Video). I wear a set of video goggles on my face and I can fly it out of sight. I keep it within a half mile of me, generally. It could go further though. My video range is a lot better than my 2.4GHz radio range. The quad copter is from hoverthings.com. It's the VC-450. I pieced together the video system from readymaderc.com.
![]() The FPV stuff is still relatively new to me. Here's a video I made a couple weeks ago of my first FPV flight. |

Re: Rc Thread
Here's my Great Planes Ultra Sport 40 with Jett .56 motor. This thing is extremely fast. About 140 mph. It has Robart pneumatic retracts.
I had my GoPro mounted on my Great Planes Dazzler last year, when it met its end against a tree. I easily had 500 flights on this plane. |

Articulation shot..back tires flat still. Can flex a little more with new susp. Setup, but i try to keep it minimal. Too much can cause a bind, and thats no good.

Re: Rc Thread
If you want a good, cheap fun heli to fly indoors, you need the Syma S107G. metal frame and it flies fantastic! I have several of them. They fly WAY better than any other three channel heli. WAY better than those stupid Airhog ones. You can't beat the deal either. $20 and it comes with the remote. Here's a link.

Re: Rc Thread
On a side note... So I jumped a fuel island at a closed down gas station, problem was that some a-hole stole the metal lid to the main fuel tank fill for the fuel truck... so when my rustler landed my rear passenger tire caught the hole and this is how the truck looked when it limped back to me... ![]() a better view... ![]() and the underside... ![]() I cant believe the a arm broke, screw bent to hell, and jacked up into the chassis like that but didnt break shock, wheel, or anything else...Also due to the lack of hobby shops here... ill be waiting on my new a arms in the mail...so my weekend is shot! |

Get pins with C clips to replace those POS screws. They're weak and the holes eventually strip out.
