Pulled over for my headlights..

I have bulb headlights, that have a slight greenish tint to them. nothing extreme, nor blinding to anyone. A cop was behind me and pulled me over for them, and demanded that I take them out. Next time he see's me with them he is going to give me a ticket for me. I'm trying to find laws on the headlights and see if I can find if they are legal or not, and what the definition for legal lights are. Can anyone help, i've searched google and can't find anything on what i need for West Virginia

What kind of lights R they?

My HIDs have a slight bluish tint (8K) but if they were 9K or higher they would be blue ot purple which I could see being illegal

yes, lol.. It's not like he turned around after seeing them or something..

I turned off my lights except parking and signal, and he goes "turn your lights on again" I did.. "GET THEM OUT!!!!" I was shocked. "he said they are not legal, I will give you a ticket next time!" "how old are you" "22" okay, and then he leaves.

just some regular headlight bulbs, not HID's or anything. they are "hid look" or something, I got them at slam session when one of my headlight bulbs went out, and I needed some cheap headlights.

Re: Pulled over for my headlights..

check into Xen-Tec HID kits, thats what i have the 6k kit for headlights and my foglights. Brilliant Bright White.

My foglights are brighter than peoples damn headlights shit is crazy! Love driving with them, and they also come with 18 month warranty on the bulbs. Ship them the bulb get a new one in the mail. Work really well and use less energy than the stock lights. BUT the downside is hiding the brains for these things in tight spaces. I hid mine well but other people like to show them off for some reason(They are all chromed out brains)

I dont see how those lights would be illegal if the blue looking lights that come on the newer cars arent. I love the look of them but they blind my ass when i meet them

Re: Pulled over for my headlights..

I dunno about Xen-Tec kits, because i went through my friend whos an auth dealer of them because it cost less $ for me

I know Ebay has the Xen-Tec kits but id look on actual online websites before EBay, maybe look for an AUTH dealer off of their website in your area?

I bought my 6000k's off of eBay. No cop has ever given me a hassle for them, but whenever they drive past they look at them lol.

The point is, its not like they had blinded him or something. He was nowhere behind me, and then as I'm giong 55 he's doing like 65 and catches up from wherever he was coming from and saw them and just pulled me.

I'm not gonna take them out, I have NEVER ever been bothered with anything on any vehicle I've ever had. as I said, Fu Ck them

Re: Pulled over for my headlights..

I got the XenTec HID kit. They are 8K which has a tad of bluish hue. 9K is really blue and than 10K is purple.
Go with 7K which is a true bright white and if you want to be safer than that, the 6K is closer to a stock xenon upgrade which has the OEM halogen characteristics but is still HID bright.
The brilliance of the road reflectors is beautiful and it helps me see better at night.
Heres a pic of them :

Heres a video clip at night of them.....My camera was wedged between my rearview mirror and the headliner....so the camera is recording through the 15% tint strip at the window top :

I wish the cops would crack down on hid kits more often. It's getting ridiculous around here now that they have gotten so cheap.

I know California law says light color must be yellowish or white. The blue-white on newer cars falls under white. A greenish tint would be a ticket.

::edit:: I found vehicle code for WV, I don't see any color restrictions on lamps. This is the section that deals with headlights:

http://www.legis.state.wv.us/WVCODE/...=17c&art=15#15
