They love em! Between the various neighbors, they've ordered a couple dozen of them! Some have them in their front/backyards. One of the older neighbors ordered 6 dragonflies to send to her kids that live around the US.

We build bullet recovery systems for crime labs in the U.S and over seas and my boss bought a 50 cal to test and prove our equipment is awesome we shoot 2 shots in every tank. The tank full of water weights around 6,000 pounds and the gun will move the tank an inch with every shot

Photo dump

Big dog in a little car

Same dog wondering why I'm walking upside down.

Dad's John Deere lawn tractor engine. I pulled to replace plastic cam gear and head gaskets. For some reason it already had a steel gear, but the gasket was definitely bad.

Dad's collection. I have no idea why he has so many. One is my Grandpa's.

Mom got a new brush for the dog and had a lot of fun by the looks of it.

Craigslist haul last week. I got two sun roof panels for the CRX to replace mine that has rust holes (on a Calif. car?...wtf). Also some really nice seats because the bolsters of mine are ripped bad.

Also got a 1989 Kawasaki 650sx. A few of my friends got jet skis this summer and, like most people, I always wanted to try a stand up. So after a few times out with them, taking turns on the shore, I had to get my own... and it's awesome! Just too bad it's almost winter here.

The jet ski trailer. I drove it 20 miles home this way on back roads. I knew it was bad. When I jacked it up, the entire hub just came right off with no tools whatsoever. Threw a new hub on it for $30 bucks and it's all good now. Also had to rewire all the lights. The ski/trailer combo came from a pothead type guy (he apologized for just finishing a bowl before I arrived at his house to look at it) and he told me the trailer isn't legal and is in rough shape. He never even tried to make the lights work, although it was super easy for me to fix.

A friend gave me these nice cases. I used one for my "faux" pro camera. Actionpro 3 camera from ebay. The thing is awesome, just as a good as my friends Hero 3.

Foot slid forward on the slipper deck of the jet ski when landing from a jump and jammed my toe into the front.

new turbo for the Silverado

Always nice to have everything back and organized after finishing a job. Only way to know if you've lost anything.

New BorgWarner turbo in. I had to cut my exhaust and move it and relocate the coolant tank. Was more work than I was planning on.

That's a Kaw motor right? Pretty sure they started putting metal gears in them later in the production run.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

Correct. This one is a 1994. Should have been plastic. Dad got the tractor around 700 hrs (1660 now), they usually strip at 1000. It'd be surprising if it was done before he bought it but who knows.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

did a trackday yesterday. It was the day after AMA was at the track, so there were still a bunch of trailers floating around at the track- factory teams, etc. So I wasnt surprised to see this:

But when they started unloading into the garage next to me I was a bit surprised:

A little photoshoot of the bike:

Roadracingworld.com is doing a review of the KTM factory RCR8, so they were demoing it yesterday with their racer Chris Ulrich. Thing sounds and looks amazing.

those KTMs are nice, their entry level bike all the way up to the top dog seem nice. wouldn't mind one of the smaller ktms as a commuter.

With AMA having been bought now, and those scumbags DMG out of the way, rumor is there will be doing a youth training program based around the KTM RC390

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

mostly an addition related post.

finally can get downstairs

there is a bathroom and storage on the other side of the stairs, this side will be a bedroom and a family game room

bedroom egress

roof going on

interior walls up

small ceiling coffer. with the 9' ceiling and the coffer we can have a 10' christmas tree and still have room for the party

windows and doors in

from left to right it goes: laundry room, laundry room 1/2 bath, family room, and the office has the last double patio door

beeper likes spaghetti

someone went over the rail, poor guy/girl, its a good 30ft drop there.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

there are interior french doors too, one between the hallway and the laundry room, and another between the family room and the study/office. When the deck is on, it will feel like a 32x20 party room with easy outside access to the chiminea and back yard. We host up to 42 people (not including our fam) for major holidays, space was important. In fact the old family room will be the dining room complete with kitchen sitting area and trestle table that will be able to seat 24

I'll take a picture from inside tomorrow, its dark out there now.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

Joedoh, why are none of the openings Vypar'd before the doors/windows went in?
Does your building code not call for it?

Up here the header and sides have to be vypar'd before the glass goes in. Then the house can be wrapped afterwards

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

I asked that too. code apparently only requires vapor wrap up to the window and tape to the window/osb joint itself. The rest is done with flashing. He said it would be nice to build houses like they do on this old house with 14 layers of moisture barrier and extra tar but the cost would be astronomical and the problem caused by one leaking nail head would be compounded by all the layers.

here is the inside shot from the hallway

trayed ceilings are ****ing sweet. A close second to cawferred (sp) ceilings.

The addition will be really nice man. Lovely choice on windows/doors. Andersen all the way. I just ordered some tilt conversions for a triple unit in my living room.

ahhh THANK YOU, they have been calling it a coffered ceiling but I knew that wasnt right, coffered to me at least meant having beams in it. Trayed is in fact the correct term.

thats what I have always been led to believe. Coffered ceilings usually have a grid of beams, with each grid being trimmed with at least crown... if not a double base and crown.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

finishing up grandmas crv
front end back together, looks ok for a deer hit

did the valve cover gasket and used a whole can of easy off on the engine, the oil crud was about 1/4" thick.
off to walmart to replace the flat spare and balance the rest, got the missing/broken bulbs replaced and the wipers too

then to my old work to pick up a bargain radio, 50 bucks with install parts! old friends are golden.

grandma saw it a few weeks ago and loves it..... except

she wants the hood/grille/rear hatch to match. She is really hardover on this, says she will do it if I dont, which kind of ruins the idea of giving her a car. So I will figure it out. Thinking of having the paint store put some aerosol cans together and scuffing/painting myself.

Shit. Just was thinking after I posted that, the rear window doesn't look like a 2nd gen CRX window....Is it a first gen? Or am I completely wrong? I feel like it's a first gen CRX.

I've ordered from automotivetouchup.com, and they match factory paint at least close enough that you can't tell on adjacent panels.

thanks for the tip! I have heard a local paint shop will put aerosol cans together but I have no idea if its true or how expensive, this will be a good comparison.

See if that color is available in Dupli-color, first. It'll probably be a lot cheaper than having it custom mixed. I know most places charge about $18-20 a can, compared to maybe $7 for Dupli-color.

Re: Post random stuff from cellphone cameras: Part II

It is about $30 a can here for a color matched spray can. If it is a common color it might be able to find it in a dupli-color spray can. Pewter like on my Jimmy and dark bronzemist metallic that was on my grand prix are hard to match with an off the shelf spray can so it was better to get a can mixed when i touched up my grand prix.
