So went under the truck to give those upper ball joints a quick service/look....found something on the passenger side.

asked for the manager of the tire shop again since this time i discovered the passenger side is ripped. he wasnt there but mentioned that it was ripped.


guy behind the counter said that i grease the ball joints too much and the tech told me that so apparently new grease is bad? basically he was saying to me that i was over greasing them causing the boot to burst... not where they is physical damage!!! and i just give them a pump or two, you can see the boots starting to swell so you stop.

anyways, i told him obviously its ripped..... so replaced it (20 minutes) and going to show it to the manager monday and make them pay for the $84 upper ball joint.

i guess his air hammer got away from him??? not sure what caused this damage. BOTH ball joint cups were like this. passenger was bad enough to rip the boot.

i've got my project thread which documents the repair being done a few months ago and in fact are new. also receipts. again....dont trust just any shop.

REALLY glad I removed the inside spare. FYI you can fit a full size 8.0 cubic foot front load driver in the box inside with the seats down and a little room to spare in a 2 door.
