i got my ears pierced at a 14g friday, the girl said wait about a month before i take them out, but i wanna gauge em to around 0 maybe 00

how long do i really need to wait, they arent very sore like i figured they would be, but its my first piercings so i didnt know what to expect.

and these bitches get crusty and it sucks lol. but i do wash them a couple times a day

i would wait about 6 weeks before starting to gauge... you need time to let your ear heal up or it will look like a cats butthole..

i waited a week to start stretching.. got em pierced at 10 gauge.

i did it entirely to fast. they were still a lil sore.. and then i was shoving bigger tapers in. They were bleeding, ugh it was a painful mess. finally once i got to 00 i took it a little slower..

id wait a while if i was to do it over again.. i wanted biggerish plugs regardless if it hurt or not.. now i have cats assholes.

i would wait six weeks to start gauging, and then id wait 2 weeks between each gauging at a minimum. DONT skip sizes... keep them clean

take it slow. i would wait 4-6 weeks to start stretching....and as stated above, don't skip sizes, and wait at least two weeks between stretches. I went up every 3 weeks. i wish i would have waited longer in between stretches...I went too fast.

I'm only at a 6, but it took me almost 2 years to get it to that size. I'd wait a good 6 or 7 months before I even bothered gauging them each time. Nice, painless gauging

i took my piercings out about 2.5 years ago. . .i've been thinking about getting my ears pierced again, i had 6 gauges in the ears and a labret piercing when i removed them. . .if i get the ears pierced again, would starting off at a 10 be too large, most places go with a 14 or 12, i'm just wondering if a 10 would be a little on the irritable side to start over at. . .sucks, that i'll have to buy new jewelry all over again, i don't think i have any of the old stuff left, i had some decent 6 gauge twisted hoops when i last had the ears pierced. . .

i could definately try it. i mean its worth a try but think about how bad it would suck for something to get in my ear, and i move and it rips my ear. Im going into Auto Collision and repair so i will be in the classroom half the day and shop the other half. when i went to register i had clear acrylic plugs in and they told me 3 times about the dress code.

and it wont be that bad really. im only taking them out during school. (8-4) so it wont be too bad.

Go slow on stretching, if it starts bleeding your going to fast. Let them heal before going up another guage. Once they heal and you regain some elasticity you can usually get the next guage in anyways

i work a 9-5 in an office. i was hired with 2ga holes, promoted to the help desk with 7/16" and promoted to managing the help desk with 5/8"

some places are cool with it, some aren't.

on the "i work in a shop" note... i train to be an MMA fighter with 5/8" holes in my ear. i'm waiting for a finger to slip in those cat's assholes and feel the tear. i hope i don't get that opportunity.

stretch slow. i suggest no more than every 2-3 months and don't skip sizes. i always did mine with weighting and tapering. i'd wear like a master lock or something in my ear for a few days and then use a taper. sometimes you hear that "pop" and know its gonna bleed a bit. just keep it clean.

wicked mayhem mentioned the least painful method. just simply put a layer or 2 of electrical tape or something similar on your current plugs every day or 2. you'll gradually increase the size pain free.

I got mine pierced at a 10 and I think Wicked did too. I dont have anything to compare it to because I don't have any other piercings but it wasn't a pleasant feeling. I mean it didn't hurt extremely bad but its not comfortable. Plus I would say that if you were planning on stretching them then 10s are a good size to start out with because buying jewelry can get expensive if every 2 or 3 weeks you have to buy new plugs and tapers.

All this talk of piercings makes me want to stretch mine more so much. But I just dont want to hear the shit from my parents when I do it.

when u use a taper, if its solid can u just leave the taper in as the plug, or is it best to also buy another earing to slide in after the taper?

yeah i got mine pierced at 10 gauge.. on my left ear i had it pierced right through the middle of a mole.. that SUCKED.. i felt a hair coming out with the needle as it was getting pierced

as for wearing earskins in the workplace etc.. when i was at 5/8 i wore my earskins from when i woke up, till when i went to bed.. working on trucks, everything.. how often do you actually hit your face on things LOL...

taping up your plugs IMO is the best way.. i couldnt ever have mine self stretch.. no way i would ever have them stretch enough even with a hot shower to stick the next size in..

i tried it when i was going from 10-00.. shit was annoying as ****.. atleast with the shape of my ears. they would dig into my neck.. then if you left the taper sticking out towards the front, i would always hit my hand on it if i was to touch my face..

look on ebay.. you can get the cheapo acrylic taper/plug kits cheap...

and yeah i used electrical tape.. people use teflon tape as well.

i cant say how many wraps i do at a time.. really depends. with where im at now i dont start stretching up for a while.. and i can usually pull down on my plug and see a little bit of daylight, so i will wrap it up till i can barely fit it in.. then i wait a day or two and do a couple more wraps, then mic it out n see how big i am. then keep going till your to the size you need to be. i generally go bigger than the size i want cause i wear double flare plugs. so if i stretch it to 11/16, then its going to have a flare thats bigger so...

i don't plan on stretching my ears out, no offense, but i just don't like the way people's gauged ears look. . .at most, i'll go down to a 6, that's where i left off at, and i liked it like that. . .if i could find my old jewelry that would be great, but right now, all i found when i looked earlier is my original captured hoops that i had like 6 years ago. . .for some reason, they were sitting at the bottom of my old shower caddy in a plastic bag. . .i'll probably go in next week and get them redone. . .

I always just got one taper to save money. And I would lube it up with KY Jelly and push it through and leave it in for like 10 or 15 min and then put the new plug in. Then do the other ear. It seemed to work for me.

i did 2 of the orbitals (the ones around the industrial) at the same sitting, they took about an hour and a half. the first one wasn't too bad. but when she had to keep twisting my ear to try to get the ring in the second one, that hurt like hell.

i didnt think any of the others hurt at all. i want to go get some more now. its been 3 years since i got those.

the septum isn't bad at all... i got mine pierced a little over a year ago. i started with 14g and i'm at 8g now. i'll keep stretching till i get told something at work. while i'm at work, i flip it up into my nose anyway, but you can still see it a little bit...

i have a 1/2" septum and unless you are looking for it, i show you. then you would never know.

Let them heal before going up another guage. Once they heal and you regain some elasticity you can usually get the next guage in anyways

Age: 28 Join Date: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,470 Location: hour west of StL User is: OffLine	Re: Piercings anyone? forgot... stretch slow. i suggest no more than every 2-3 months and don't skip sizes. i always did mine with weighting and tapering. i'd wear like a master lock or something in my ear for a few days and then use a taper. sometimes you hear that "pop" and know its gonna bleed a bit. just keep it clean. wicked mayhem mentioned the least painful method. just simply put a layer or 2 of electrical tape or something similar on your current plugs every day or 2. you'll gradually increase the size pain free.

*Wicked Mayhem* Moderator Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 16,351 Location: :noitacoL User is: OffLine	Re: Piercings anyone? yeah i got mine pierced at 10 gauge.. on my left ear i had it pierced right through the middle of a mole.. that SUCKED.. i felt a hair coming out with the needle as it was getting pierced as for wearing earskins in the workplace etc.. when i was at 5/8 i wore my earskins from when i woke up, till when i went to bed.. working on trucks, everything.. how often do you actually hit your face on things LOL... taping up your plugs IMO is the best way.. i couldnt ever have mine self stretch.. no way i would ever have them stretch enough even with a hot shower to stick the next size in..

*Wicked Mayhem* Moderator Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 16,351 Location: :noitacoL User is: OffLine	Re: Piercings anyone? look on ebay.. you can get the cheapo acrylic taper/plug kits cheap... and yeah i used electrical tape.. people use teflon tape as well. i cant say how many wraps i do at a time.. really depends. with where im at now i dont start stretching up for a while.. and i can usually pull down on my plug and see a little bit of daylight, so i will wrap it up till i can barely fit it in.. then i wait a day or two and do a couple more wraps, then mic it out n see how big i am. then keep going till your to the size you need to be. i generally go bigger than the size i want cause i wear double flare plugs. so if i stretch it to 11/16, then its going to have a flare thats bigger so...
