My 1 year divorce anniversary is Oct 10, cant wait for that 1 year mark.

Hey just curious how long did it take? how long were* you required to be legally seperated? and what state did you go through?

This is my 2nd divorce. 1st one lasted a year. Had a daughter together.

This past one lasted 5 years. With her several. Have 2 boys with her, one of which went though cancer treatment.
She had a few affairs and the last one was enough, since she decided to go for my "friend". They deserve each other... who cares...

Separated in January. I was in NY for my Grandmothers Funeral when she called and told me when I get back to Texas, to move out.
Oh, I didn't have to pay a dime for the divorce.
BTW, she doesn't have a job, never had. She lives off the system, my Son's Social Security Check (from the cancer).... and my child support check....

Took a few months to get it done, but hey, it's done!

Grats man. CA has a 6 month cool-off period, after all the paperwork is filed and recognized by the court, so upwards of 9 months total.

in AR you have to be seperated for 18mo and after that you are legally divorced... or pull the shit the ex did and make one or the other out to be an asshole that you can't stand to live with anymore. that took a month lol

Here in Texas, when you file for a divorce, I think there is a 60 day period before anything can take place. Don't quote me on that.

But divorces can take years. A friend of mine is still going through a divorce and it has been a couple of years and over $10k. It was going to be final one day until his ex got pregnant by another man, so they has to wait for a test to see it was his or not.

When you have kids, they can be expensive, exhaustive, emotionally draining, and drawn out.

no kids involved in mine, and a "no fault* " divorce was filed. Once the papers were started we had a 90 day waiting period until it was finalized and complete. I made my exwife pay for all the expenses and legal papers... so in the end it didnt cost me all that much at all. Then again i lucked out since she was somewhat reasonable and didnt fight for "half" of everything since she knew she was at fault for alot of the shit we went thru. I got to keep the house, all my stuff i had before we were married,half the stuff we aquired during the marriage, and all my vehicles.. id say i made out ok.

* in Pa here.. a no fault divorce just means to the state that you no longer get along and cant stand to leive with each other. I could of got a lawyer and went after her to accuse her of being a lying cheating whore and taken everything from her... but it wasnt worth it to me. By letting her get away with being innocent in the states eyes only cost me about 200 bucks total verse the 10 grand it could of if i would of went after her in court.

one thing that majorly helped us out to get things finalized quickly and with minimal court costs was to make a list of everything ya own... i mean everything! Then once you got the items covered we started to go thru the list discussing what each of us got. Kept working it out until each of us was mostly happy. The more you can settle out of court the better.

Do you actually have to provide a list to the court or is it just for your benefit to sign off on it so you can't attack one another later?

If it's just for court I'm only writing down the house and cars.

yeah the court saw it. her lawyer looked over the paper and copied it all into the settlement papers... proving we had taken care and come to an agreement on where all the person assets are being divided up too.
