need opinions (lincoln ls)
well im getting sick of my truck its been very reliable but i have had it since i was 16 and i want something nicer. i am current trying to sell the truck and im considering buying a Lincoln ls v8 i cant find any forums about them any one here have any experiences with them? seems like it will be a sweet car considering how cheap you can pick them up.

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
Its a low cost Jaguar knock off.
The LS and newer T-bird were based on the Jaguar S-type platform. Ford changed just enough to make them different but still a b*tch to work on. The LS is a classy car. Its was sporty looking and helped give Lincoln its own identity for awhile. As far as I know, the lug nuts are the same on all years and are the stupidest pieces of shit ever made. They have a sheetmetal chrome cover that gets stuck in your socket. If you can break the sheetmetal off then you can use an 18mm socket to remove the lugnuts. There is a 3.9 v8 and i think 3.0 v6. The V8 has a lovely expensive electronic throttle body that fails from time to time. I think 01's with the V8 had serious issues with timing chain tensioners. A broken chain will take out a bank of valves on whatever side breaks. Like anything it costs money to own. These cars have been proven to cost a little more than others. |

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
i was sucked in by the good looks and v8 but reading more about the reliability issues it seems like a bad idea. i must say im pretty upset about that i really like the looks of these cars.

The LS is a nice car and look good laid out but also look good with just a nice set of wheels on them.

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
My girlfriend has one with the v8. I've been dealing with it for the past few years. It's a good looking and driving car but not something I would reccomend unless you have a pretty good job lol. Hers goes through coil packs all of the time and is very sensitive to what gas you put in it. Plus the v8 requires 92 octane or higher which is a real kick in the wallet, they suck to work on, everything in the engine bay has some sort of cover on it lol. Sucks in the snow, can't get any good aftermarket parts for it............other than it's decently fast (compared to the s10 anyways lol) and has a lot of luxuries, I would never consider buying one.

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
The stupid lug nuts he mentioned are coming ever more popular on a wide variety of vehicles and tend to just be more of a annoyance. IMO I would honestly stay away from it. Good luck |

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
oh god, dont do it..... horrible..... nuff said. On the one hand, they ride pretty nice, but the 3.9l v8 is a dog, for being a v8, and everything is overpriced on it. Ive got 2 customers with them, and they hate them. The suspension is jaguar, and steering parts go bad all the time, and they are big bucks.... ive got one here right now for a fan motor. The fan motor is $567.90......... for the part. Its a car that isnt nice enough to support the price tag on repairs imo

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
Is this fan motor you speak of the hydraulic fan motor? Im not sure if all of them had it, but the LS has a cooling fan powered by the power steering pump. |

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
Be sure you really want a car. I went from owning three trucks to a four door sedan after six years of driving/owning vehicles and while it's not a fast car it's roomy, comfortable, and better on gas than my truck which is what I wanted. Sadly, it's not all I thought it would be cracked up to be. I miss being in a truck. I sometimes think if I had a fast car it'd be different. I'm really not sure of that though. The big thing for me is that this car has no personality, it has no attitude, it has no feeling. It's very bland. For some reason I feel different in trucks. There's just something about them. I can get in my dad's plain ol 94 bone stock Sierra and it just feels right. I may sound weird, it's just how I feel, like it's a better fit. I feel like I belong in a truck.

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
they are nice but they have mean ball joint problems and each ball joint is 400 bucks because it comes with the lower arm. just a thing to look out for. also the headlights get yellow fast and only solution is new ones. i love the interior and comfort.
just make sure you test drive and check it out thoroughly . |

Re: need opinions (lincoln ls)
ohhhh one thing, just did the brakes on one why I notice the ball joints as I would have lubed them.
Wasn't noticable less the tire was off and I didn't bother to crawl under to see the rest. Did it in a driveway. But the aluminum body bushing were half rotted out in the nose and its a newer one, that is garage kept and not driven allot. Once them bushing rot all the way, that all plastic front end will just flop. |
