my truck runs so much better and i went from 20 mpg to 24 mpg(both highway) just by switching oils

hey tom, how is that pennzoil platinum anyways? . . .i last got an oil change in February and i finally switched over to synthetic. . .i've got Mobil 1 in there right now, but since i'm not driving as much (maybe 3 days a week), i've only put about 2000 miles on the truck since the oil change. . .i know i should change it soon, just because it's been in there so long, and you posted this, so it just reminded me that i should really get my ass in gear about it. ..

It's not like they allow me to take cases at a time, we are limited to the amount of oil we are allowed to take from the plant for our personal use. Also, I dont deal with the little one or two case sample shipments by UPS of FedEx. I ship out domestic and export full truck loads, anywhere from 900-1800 cases of oil per trailer or container.

hahaha, I dont know the exact cost per load, but for let say...1764 cases of Amalie imperial 10W30, you are looking at somewhere between $16K and $18K depending on freight. The oil itself is sold by the gallon, grease by the pound..with a minimum 1000 gallon requirement, if under 1000 gallons, there is a $0.10 per gallon fee charged.

Re: need an oil change and want to save some money?

the last time that I know of that we "donated" anything was 2 pallets of oil to a church. But heck, that is 168 cases...but like i said, if anybody needs anything around me than I can pick it up and it can be picked up here at the house. Shipping a case of oil would not be cost worthy, since a case weighs 24.5 pounds. We also have coolant, brake fluid, conventional and synthetic ATF, power steering fluid, hydraulic oils, cutting oils, bar and chain...pretty much everything from auto lubricants to food grade mineral oil.

we are also promoting our new line called "Engine Armour". We have a lab on site and they received a bottle of Lucus Oil stabilizer. The chemists broke down the additives in the Lucus and now we are making our own version, with the exact same additive package, just with more of it at less cost on the retail end.

i'm told its really good,i myself prefer mobil 1 for synthetic but at the price pennzoil is offering after the rebate i'm willing to give it a try.

if i were you i'd just buy some PP and keep it till your oil gets alittle dirty then change it. with how little your driving i would say you could go acouple more months. i stopped paying attention to mileage with the synthetic and just change it when it starts getting dark in color.

the additive package will vary on the blend, if you let me know what blend and VI, I can get you some specs...all of our oils are the same exact blend for each label, it doesnt vary from label to label...for example the Federated Auto Parts products we blend are the exact same as the Parts Plus, Amalie, SOPUS, Xcel, Rallye, Value Tech, Advance Auto parts, so on and so on....

We currently buy our additives from SOPUS (Shell/Pennzoil), Chevron, Lubrizol and a few others

here is something you can read from the site:
http://www.amalieoil.com/specs/1_pcmo.pdf

Re: need an oil change and want to save some money?

Thanks for the link!

I use Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 in my 2004 srt-4 all the time. If you go to bobistheoilguy.com, you will see that it rates up there with amsoil as one of the best synthetic oils available. It consistently gets excellent used oil analysis' from all types of cars. It ALWAYS performs better than Mobil 1. Always go by what UOA's say, not by what someone recommends (just because it's their favorite oil lol).

The last used oil sample I sent in to Blackstone Labs had 3k miles on the oil. In the report they did, they said I could run it 7k miles or more no problem. And this is in a turbo car.

Sucks that it's only one per person per household. I'd like to try using synthetic in my daily seeing as I put around 300 miles on it a week.

I seriously doubt it, about the zddp for the flat tappets, the EPA has forced the stuff nearly completely out of engine oils. We dont offer anything close to royal purple, we dont even offer and extended change interval oil period right now, as far as I know...when we were blending and bottling for Citgo we didnt even have our own high mileage blend, but now that we have the Advance Contract we do. I seriously dont think RP is in the companies owners radar at the moment, so I dont think we will offer anything close to RP for some time, but you never know.

I can tell you right now though, that funny car we sponsor is using the Amalie Pro Hi Performance oil and if it is good enough to rely on in that car week in and week out there must be something good going on with it. I have personally picked their shipments of the oil and there is no funny stuff going on there, it comes from the same stock as the oil we send out to Joe Shmo Auto parts.

the problem with statements like that is professional drag racing teams rebuild the engines alot and always use new oil. so the oil might only be used on one or two runs,it doesn't really compare to everyday use.

Well without ZDDP I'm stuck adding Lucas Oil Stablizer(sp) or comp cams cam lube or going full syn on it. Not sure yet as I dont put more then maybe 2k miles on it a year but an oil change in the spring when I get it out of storage and and oil change in the fall when it goes into storage.

this is our new product called Engine Armour, now I can check with David Barkett, who is pushing the line. The line includes an oil stabilizer. We made this stuff to compete with Lucus. But anyway, I can check with him and see about maybe getting a gallon shipped to you. We have been giving samples away off the dock to truck drivers and employees and he is getting feedback on the product and has had great feedback returned. On the retail side, should they find a retailer who would carry the product near you, this stuff is going to be like $4 on the cheaper per quart. The guy who developed the lilne, Dwayne Browning works in my office with me. He said they simply brought a bottle of the Lucus into our lab, the lab broke down the additive package of the Lucus and we more or less copied it and made it better. Again, if you are up for trying it, let me know.

I understand what you are saying completely. But when looking at the HP those engines run at, RPM, friction and heat compared to the consumers engine demands, that used oil can be sent back to our lab and we can simulate those conditions over a period of time. Then we can be sure that the products tested meet the praises that we give them and we can stand behind them.

I am always willing to try new products. I run a small business so new products are fun to try before I make any recomondations to customers. Also just an FYI if any one is gonna need new tires in the next year you may want to buy soon. Most US manufactures were shipping to china to have tires made and with the new tariffs is putting a stain on what US production there is. Yoko is lucky made in Japan or US and I believe cooper was shipping out to china now, so was Del-nat too, among others.

What I do is I save an empty 1 quart container and pour it in there. The 5 quart jug is then used for the old oil
