But think about it.. Thats awesome it bit the dude with the gun.... But it was also coming after me for having a cheeseburger.. so you really never know with those things.. His dog is chill as **** with everyone.. ive never seen it growl at anyone except me. and its all since the double cheeseburger incident. Who knows, maybe that dude had some beef jerky in his pocket. i dont trust his dog tho.. i try to be nice to it. tried to let it smell me and shit, do what its gotta do to get comfortable around me, but for whatever reason tho as soon as i walk in the room it starts going ape shit. usually he just yells at it for a minute, and it calms down and is fine the rest of the night.. But that still dont calm me down.. Its an animal, It only "loves" you because you give it food.. If you starve one of those ****ers for a week, its gonna look at you like you're lunch.

I have a UKC American Pit Bull Terrier and am very active with other responsible APBT owners. It does need to be said, that the APBT, like other Bully breeds are known for dog aggression and any signs of human aggression is not tolerated. Once a dog is a man biter, he will always be a man biter and that dog no longer represents the breed well and should be put down.

There is a post on here somewhere that identifies the Golden Lab as the top aggressive and I read a report that confirms that as well and the APBT is not even in the top 5 breeds as most aggressive dogs. however, the CDC does not document dog bites by breed, due to the fact witness reports are skewed and the general breed knowledge of the witnesses or victims are terribly flawed.

And last but not least, there is no such thing as a Red Nose or Blue Nose Pit Bull. Nose color is just a trait, it is either and American Pit Bull Terrier, Amstaff or Ambully. There was a bloodline called Old Family Red Nose, but the bloodline is very rare anymore. This is my girl Daisy:

Pretty interesting thread. I haven't had much experience with pitbulls until this year. A girl I was dating earlier this year has 2 brothers who each had pits... but very friendly to me.

Now I have been dating a girl since July who owns a 2 year old female. One of the nicest dogs I've ever met. She's a big lap dog. No matter where we take her, or who comes over the house, she is always playful and friendly. I've picked her up when she is sleeping and she's never snapped at me. I've also wrestled with her and pretended to be fighting with my girlfriend (physically) and the pit has never gotten aggressive. She might bark, or jump, or nip a little bit, but as soon as we say "it's ok, we're just playing" and pet her on the head, she is perfectly fine. She loves attention and hates if you ignore her or if she isn't sleeping by me or my gf.

I'll have to be cautious though after reading a few of these stories.

I have only known three people with pits. My friend had a mini dashund that was literally ripped in half by his neighbors two pits. My grandfather had two autrailian shepards tied up and they were killed by my cousins pit. And a guy at work had a pit for years and was out jogging with it one day and it chased him up a tree he had to call his dad to come shoot the dog so he could get out of the tree.

Those two incidents could have been avoided, if the attacking dog's owner was more responsible. Any responsible bully breed owner knows that at any given time they can become dog aggressive. There have been instances where a bully breed dog is dog friendly for years, then all of a sudden turn dog aggressive. Dog aggression is VERY common in bully breeds and the only way to really control it, if in fact the dog turns DA is to crate and rotate in a multi dog house or properly contain the dog with supervision if it is the only dog in the house.

Even the dog men of the old days would cull human aggressive dogs, it was against what the APBT was bred for. It was bred to be dog aggressive in the pit. Now, repsonsible breeders have line bred their dogs for so long, many of them dont show the DA trait, but most do at one time or another. The problem these days, is that so many BYBers are breeding dogs soley for color, hoping to make a fast dollar and do not invest in the tempermant testing and health testing required to breed successfully. The BYBers dont know what they have nor do the people buying the dogs.
