Re: Most Ridiculous finds on Craigslist volume II

The point is, the difference in the changes are negligible, you can swap any hood from 94 to the end of production, and dude way over priced his crap parts. If he did actually pay $70 for the scoop, I hope they used lube.

So yes, the hoods changed, and yes, that guy is strange.
I've been around S10's for quite some time and I've seen under the hood of hundreds at the junk yard and this is the first I've ever heard of this. Do you have a pic the part you are talking about?

If it has a clean title with it, it's worth it. Those trucks cost a lot to fix from what I've seen of friends repair bills. Of course that may depend on where you live too I guess.

Re: Most Ridiculous finds on Craigslist volume II

Not so fast home skillet. That top pic is a 1st gen (82-93) the bottom pic is a 2nd gen (94-04).

My 97, 98, and 99 all have those tabs on the hood because all 2nd gens do.

Re: Most Ridiculous finds on Craigslist volume II

Yes. Those were referred to as the 2nd gen version of the 1st gen. Mine and two of your trucks are 3rd gens. Your 97 is a 1st gen/2nd gen changeover.

Wait, wait, wait...I thought the 94-97 were fourth Gen, 98-00 were fifth Gen, and 01-04 sixth Gen, or was it 7th???

Re: Most Ridiculous finds on Craigslist volume II

Sorry you're right. 01-04's came with the 411 PCM's and were 7th gens. They were so awesome they skipped a gen.

My 98 and 99 didnt have them, but both my 01, blazer and sonoma did, I was told 2001 was the turning year. It may have been a canadian american thing, or mayvbe both hoods happen to be reproduction? Not sure. clearly the guys above know everything, so follow their advice.

While I'll admit I don't know everything I do; however, know the difference in a 1st gen firewall and wiper cowl and a 2nd gen firewall and wipercowl.

I have a 97 with the original hood that has them. The undeniable truth right there. I've also seen literally hundreds of pre 2000 S10's, Blazers, Jimmy's, Sonoma's, and Bravada's that all had them. You were told wrong son. Also, as far as you're concerned, I do know everything. Watch that mouth being so quick to pop off about something.

Can someone tell me where I can find a steel wiper cowl for my 2000 Blazer? I was told they came on the pre 2001 S10s, but I can't find one.

Re: Most Ridiculous finds on Craigslist volume II

I doubted it at first, but there is a pretty large meat processing facility up around there, and they higher anyone *ahem illegals* and so that could be the broken english.. I loved those bodies, but there is little way i wouldn't figure out how to put, idk, something bigger in it, at least an ol' tree-fiddy

*** i mean the body, that one is in way too good of shape to tear up... IMO of course, I'm getting more into leaving old stuff stock

Lightning rods FTW. The Olds 307, 350, and 455 all share the same outside dimensions and look almost identical. It's not difficult and not uncommon to swap the 350 or 455 into them.
