I Think That Lesnar Has Made Leaps Since His First Fight. Im Not Saying That He Is Going To Win But It Could Happen Its Not That Far Out There.

Wow! I didn't see it coming. I had mentioned that Couture would kill Lesnar but never thought we would get to see it. I just really thought Couture was done with Dana White.

Re: MMA Thread

couture wants a fight with fedor, and it appears that this is the quickest way to get to that fight. As for lesnar, i would have liked to see him get some more experience before this fight, but it will still be interesting.

I say coture takes him down and submits him. Lesnar is getting better but I don't think he's at a top tier level yet. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Silva go at it.

Re: MMA Thread

Very odd that Coture isn't fighting Nog first, but whatever - going to be a good fight.

I'm going to take Brock in this; Randy's the tactician for sure but he's been blasted by Chuck twice and Brock may be just fast enough to catch him. Alongside that, Randy gets work done in the clinch, and I really don't see him controlling a clinch with a guy potentially 50lbs heavier than him. Randy has a wrestling base, but so does Brock, so I'm thinking it stays standing for awhile and during that trade Brock will end up catching him.

Personally I've lost a lot of respect for Randy since he finked on his contract. I still think he's a great fighter but when it becomes about the money is when you end up with shit like what Boxing is today. Sure, get paid, but for Christ sake learn how to utilize the proper channels.

not a huge lesnar fan but i would have to say i give it to him, hes got the wrestling skills cloture has if not better, and the quickness is there. i dont know how strong lesnars chin is but should be a good fight none the less.

Brock is a meathead and very disrespectful fighter. He's already taking crap about Fedor and hasn't done anything in his career yet. I hope Randy gets the victory.

Which makes it all make even less sense. There's all kinds of speculation as to why but it seems like the most feasible is he was upset that other people were making more - wanting to fight Fedor sure, but at some point it really didn't seem like that was his drive. Regardless, it was a mess and a really unnecessary one at that.

Re: MMA Thread

Lesnar does not deserve a title shot yet, end of story.

He's 1-1 in the UFC, 2-1 in his career, and they're letting him fight The Natural? One of the best fighters ever? Ufc is more worried about ratings than they are about putting on a good show with fighters who deserve to be fighting each other.

I want to see them do 1 old school pay per view, do a open class tournament style event, like they used to. Make the fighters you pay millions for fight 3 times in a night

I actually like the UFC's approach to match making; This keeps boring fighters from snoozing their way to the top (Lyoto Machida) and keeps the fights exciting and interesting (by keeping the fighters hungry for impressive wins). Despite whether Brock deserves this or not (which I do agree with you there), it's nice to see that exciting of a match in the HW division.

IMO Randy easily beats Big Nog, so maybe that's their logic here - They don't want to make it easy on Randy to just keep the title and run the risk of him leaving again, so who else can they really throw at Randy that poses the most problems? Cro Cop's gone, and Congo just isn't good enough, so they gotta go with someone who at least has the potential to end Randy's night early. (Carwin's a possibility but isn't he just a striker?)

Fedor's even said he thinks a fight with Brock is interesting, so there's something to be said about that.

It'd never get sanctioned unfortunately.

Well he has been knocked out by Evans and Rampage, lost a decision to Jardine, and beat Wanderlei.... 1-3 in his last 4 fights and he hasnt finished anyone in 2 years.

I hate to say it, but it might be time to hang them up. He's just not up there with the elite anymore. Everyone knows what he is going to do... Flick the left hand out to distract and load up that right hand. He's meeting guys who know this, and don't mind standing up and banging. He's either got to evolve and use that ground game I know he has, or call it a day.

Matt Brown got ripped the fvck off... That's the truth.

What gets me is he looked great against Wandy; he was using his wrestling and keeping his damned hands up - that's always driven me absolutely up the wall with Chuck; his hand positions are absolutely ridiculous (sloppy even), and we're seeing that play out now as he fights more and more well rounded guys (no more pure grapplers for Chack). If he fought Rashad like he fought Wandy that wouldn't have happened - but again with the overconfidence and the hands at the sides like he's at a karate point-fighting tournament.

Hell yeah he did. I'm glad he put on a decent showing; they'll keep him around as if he won that fight.
