Well I only have a little over a grand in mine, so maybe my statment won't be good enough.

But, I'm a bit younger that some of you other guys and I know other kids out there around my age and younger. 18-19 around there, that just get ones because it's "cool." It's kind of like the hookah thing for 18 year old kids to do. Why? because it's super cool!(or something?)

A lot of tattoos out there are not how you see it on that Miami Ink show, where every one has a reason for it.

And it's quite sad too.

I agree, most first tattoos are fad tattoos.
My point was not really about the $ either. You could have spent $0 and have a sleeve if you have the right friend. My point was, even if I want to get a tattoo of Barney on my forehead who is anyone else to say how cool it is.
Look at Picasso, his art was trash when he was alive then all the sudden the right person said it was cool and now they are worth millions.
Not that I think anyone could make a Barney tattoo cool, but you get my point.

Agree, there are a sh1t load of dumb tattoo's out there that aren't every well done or thought out but to each his/ her own. All of my tattoo's have a story behind them, thats just the way i do things, tattoo's help me cope with the pain of things that are going on around me or help me remember a time or a place that i dont want to forget even if i ever get amnesia.

honestly, mine dont have any special meaning or anything. I'm not creative enough to think up shit like you see on miami ink or whatever, So i basically think of shit that i like, and tell the artist to do what he can do. I happen to love hot rods and cars, so i got a rat fink, the von dutch flying eye, and some kulture stuff, dice, cards skulls flames, that kinda shit. My right sleeve, when i get around to getting the rest done, will basically reflect my interest in the kustom kulture scene, And my left sleeve is going to be geared towards music, ive been a guitar player for almost 15 years, so thats another aspect of my life that i want to lay down in ink. I've only got 1 tattoo started on the music sleeve, which is an old school 50's style mic (and i dont even sing, but its musically oriented, and i liked it, so i got it) But theres no 1 tattoo that means anything specific to me. Other than my DI tatto which was the truck club i used to be in. I dont beleive a tattoo needs to hold a specific personal message, or sentimental value, just gotta be something you like.

nah i know what your sayin. I think that the majority of the shit thats seen on miami ink and shit where they come in with some sob story about their uncle's favorite goldfish died or whateverthefuck, is almost never the case, I think the majority of people have a general idea of what they like, and leave the artistic aspect up to the artist himself.

i got this one done

took like 2 1/2 hours....not too fun....it gets a lil tender after a while....some places were horrible like where my tummy gets chunky..lol but i tell u my foot hurt waay worse than my side.....

I've always wanted a full sleeve, but I never will considering I have seen how big upper jobs turn people down because of them. I work for UPS and wearing Long sleeves in 110degree warehouse isn't my cup of tea.

well its not the quality im worried about, the other shop i would go to his very reputable and i have seen the work that has come out of there. its just more expensive, the shop i normally go to i know the work obveously lol. and they are willing to do it cheaper. not by a whole lot but 80/hr compared to 100/hr

I've only got 1 tattoo started on the music sleeve, which is an old school 50's style mic (and i dont even sing, but its musically oriented, and i liked it, so i got it) But theres no 1 tattoo that means anything specific to me. Other than my DI tatto which was the truck club i used to be in. I dont beleive a tattoo needs to hold a specific personal message, or sentimental value, just gotta be something you like.

I think that the majority of the shit thats seen on miami ink and shit where they come in with some sob story about their uncle's favorite goldfish died or whateverthefuck, is almost never the case, I think the majority of people have a general idea of what they like, and leave the artistic aspect up to the artist himself.
