Job Venting

I have this job that I've had for about 8 months. Its an Auto Auction place (I80 Auto Auction) The job sounded fun when I first started...got to drive cool cars (E60 M5, Porsche Carrera) and many others. Well I started doing detailing which was fine with me but then my job turned into Security/Detail. Had to get up a crazy hours in the morning not really my cup of tea. Now my job is just security, I have 3, 11 hour work days. wed.11am-9pm, Sat-Sun. 6am-5pm. I'm really not a morning person. So today was my first 11 hour shift and there was nothing to do. And my boss is a dick, even though Im just security he still wants me to do something on the side to keep me busy. But the guy before my shift had already finished thoses tasks so I had Nothing to do.

I know I need a REAL job and my parents keep on telling me that I need to go to college. I guess I'm just really pissed that I went from a shitty job to a really shitty job

Re: Job Venting

Maybe you just sucked at detailing cars? Instead of firing your ass they gave you the security job?

If you were a good auto detailer they would not have made you a security guard, trust me. Great detailers are hard to come by.

Just suck it up, obviously the auction is not gonna be a job for you. Go to school or find something else.

I know I dont suck at detailing cars cause both my manager and boss told me that I do a very good job. Its just that they needed people that knew how to buff cars and since Im a novice at buffing they didn't want me I guess

^^^^No kidding! I've been working at Five Guys Burgers and Fries since march and I can't stand it but I need money to pay my bills and live off of. Hopefully since I turn 18 in a few days I can get me a better job somewhere.

Re: Job Venting

IMO there seems to be a common issue with people who dont like their job. They are good at finding problems but not at finding solutions.

I would suggest you take the initiative to use your spare time during your 4 days off and find a way to learn how to buff so you can get back into the detail shop.

oh yeah, I understand that. I know with our power company man, power alone is killing our funds here. Our power bill is running $300-320 a month. Frekin Progess Energy is ripping us off and we try our best to conserve as much as we can.

Re: Job Venting

I overheard a deputy talking about their pay the other day. The Pasco sheriffs office deputy's had to agree to not have any raises for the next year or so so there wouldnt be any layoffs. They assholes over in Hillsborough County, they demanded their raises, so they had a lot of lay offs.

Be glad you got what ya got, cause when it is gone, you will be sorry you aint got it no more, lol.

Re: Job Venting

Like they all said, be thankful for what you have. I'm a college graduate with no job and $30K in debt. Been out of work since April for being assaulted. First I've heard back from anyone is this past week because my best friend's mom works there and put in a word for me. And that apartment is hellacheap, mine was $500 and it was the cheapest I could find and we had to pay all utilities including trash pick up. To the guy at Five Guys, can you get me a discount? Maybe some coupons? lol

Well there you go, your not a detailer. If you were as good as they said you are then they would be willing to put some time into you teaching the art of compounding and polishing. Obviously your not gonna cut it so be lucky they didnt fire you.

Re: Job Venting

ok your 19. at that age all you usually get is shitty jobs. its money so stop cryin about it. just remember you can set the pace of your day the minute you wake up. if you whine and cry about it and think about how shitty it is gonna be, its gonna suck the whole 11 hours. if you wake up and think its gonna be a good day and you'll have alot of time to yourself to relax and think it will be just fine.

I know exactly how that is. I've been out of college for a year and a half and just found a job in july and believe me its as far form my major as you can get, but its a job and being broke sucks ass.

A couple words of advice to the OP, GET EDUCATION NOW. Do this while there is no jobs available. And then maybe when you get done something will be there.

Re: Job Venting

I think we all hate our jobs at one time or another, bottom line is you got one. if you have 4 days off find another one to fill two of those days. I work a full time 8-5 and worked at a car wash on the weekend to get some side dough. you'll figure it out cheer up it could be worse.

Re: Job Venting

Welcome to actual work dude, Gotta get up in the morning to go make some cash. Boo ****in hoo. Most boss' suck, but it puts cash in the pocket so quit your bitchin and do the job. OMG, your boss wants you to actually work while ur there rather than sit on your ass all day and do shit all. ****, people are so goddamn lazy its not even funny, people would basically kill for a job at this point. So STFU and go back to your rent-a-cop job with a damn smile on your face cause u actually have a job

oh i know, im glad to have the job, but after thinking it through even more im still wondering even more about being able to make ends meet. as long as i can keep getting 20 hours a week i can scrape by, i hope, any less than that and it would be really tough. 20 hours would leave me at about 150, maybe a little less a month left over for utilities and food after insurance and rent

sorry for the hijack OP
