Good luck with it man. I had to take my first iphone 3G in to have it looked at because the home button quit working. Everything else worked fine. They told me it had water damage and that they wouldn't warrenty it. It had never been around moisture, it wasnt even 20 days old. They wanted to charge me 500 bucks and start a new contract for a phone that isn't even 30 days old yet. Suffice to say with a few choice words and a written letter from my lawyer, they exchanged my phone.

Unlocking is only needed if you want to run the phone on a network besides at&t. And no, you wont lose anything when you jailbreak it.

Anyone else having problems connecting to the internet today? Mine has been sporadically acting like a POS since about noon. I spent 20 minutes on hold with AT&T but had to hang up before I talked to anybody. The recording said they were "experiencing high call volume" so I'm thinking I might not be the only one.

i dont have my fone on me at the moment. and i dont feel like walking upstars to get it, But if when you log into cydia, on the bottom there should be something that says "manage' or osmethin along those lines.. and tap that, and it should say packages, sources, and somethin else.. click sources.. hit edit in the corner, and the plus sign to add one... and then enter the following URL

save it, And then go search, it should pop up.

well guys my iphone took a shit on my yesterday, idk what happened. it will no longer charge with any charger...

i got a free at&t hooptie phone for now, im going to return it and get something i want when i get some cash.

it was time for it to break i guess a year and a half of daily useage, dropped a million times, cracked screen, antenna cover held on by tape etc. haha

Anybody else have problems with springboard crashing? Mine seems to do it alot. It'll be in my pocket, no apps running. I go to make a phone call, its busy and then finally restarts says springboard crashed and in saved mode. Have to restart again. I'm not sure what could be the problem other than maybe winterboard?

mines crashed a few times. only way i can say to permanently get rid of it is to restore and start clean. its generally caused by incompatible apps. But the hard part is figuring out which ones arent compatible with eachother. it was happening mostly on my itouch. i think it only happend once on my iphone. it hasnt done it in a while tho, so i may have deleted the app that was causing the problem.

I'll deal with it, I do not want to start over, I like the way its customized. It's not that bad, just kind of annoying. I know it's gotten me outta letting 2 people borrow my phone twice now. But i'd rather not let anyone borrow it, because I don't want it dropped, and I have limited mins LoL

I'll take a screen shot next time it happens and show you what it looks like.

Oh yeah!! I also have twice now since owning my phone. A screen has come up showing me to connect my phone to itunes with the cable. It shows No Service and will only let you make an emergency call. After I connected it to my comp and itunes, a few seconds later it comes up and says "phone is activated" Well I was out one day, had my phone off for about 2 hours. I turned it on, stuck it in my pocket. Well 45 mins later I went to do something on my phone. It had the "Connect to itunes" image on the screen. I was like ****, I'm not anywhere near my comp to do this. I turned it off and restarted, and it was gone. It said once again "phone activated" I don't know what the deal with that is either LoL. I know jail breaking or anything can have some bugs, maybe this one is it also. I'm not worried about it, as long as I can restart the phone and it goes away.

Oh well, not any big problems. I love the phone, it's alot better than my old blackberry with internet, atleast the damn screen looks like real internet pages and not some 1990 hotmail webpage.

i downloaded a video recorder off installer. works pretty good and simple. its only a trial though. they want 20 dollars to buy it so i wont be buying it. but cool to record off my iphone.

and has anyone tried the hook mobile MMS program? my buddy told me his friend has it and it works prefect. i tried it and it only shows like the top 1/8th of the picture. and i sent a pic to my dad and he says it comes up real fast then switches to the next screen about the hook mobile. i deleted it..

I have Cycorder for taking videos, it's free (at least when i got it) and works very awesome if you ask me. There's also a way to upload the videos right to youtube if you wanted to using pixel pipe (free in appstore) and video enabler (cydia) but i haven't tried that yet.

thats weird. never even heard of that.. must be somthing with the 3g iphones. I have a 2g, and mines unlocked, so i could take the sim card out, and it will still boot right up wihout showing me that connect to itunes thing. If your phone is a 3g, and you havent already upgraded to firmware 2.2.1, then try unlocking it with quickpwn. if you have 2.2.1 you cant unlock the 3g. so if you upgraded, you might be stuck living with it.

Im also using the AIM chat sounds, The metal gear text notification, rifle bolt action unlock sounds. I also added the umbrela corporation logo spinning loader Icon.

I upgraded the day I got it to 2.2.1, it's a 3g and I jailbroke it the same day.

you can jailbreak, but you cant unlock. 2.2.1 permanently updates the baseband so it cannot be unlocked. there is no unlock yet for a 2.2.1 3g. even if you revert back to 2.2, the baseband still stays, so your effed if you wanted to unlock it. but jailbreak is not a problem.

Gotta question... My girl has the iPhone that came out before the 3g iPhone and I've been trying to jailbreak it all night and quickpwn just won't work on any of her computers... It's the 2.2.1 firmware and I tried every quickpwn link for windows but as soon as I open quickpwn it closes down.... Not sure what I should try next... Any suggestions or ideas? This bitch is a lot more difficult than my 3g was to jailbreak

either somethin is up with your computer or the downloads are gettin corupted. i did my 2g iphone in about 5 minutes on my pc.

Mine seems to do it alot. It'll be in my pocket, no apps running. I go to make a phone call, its busy and then finally restarts says springboard crashed and in saved mode. Have to restart again. I'm not sure what could be the problem other than maybe winterboard?

But the hard part is figuring out which ones arent compatible with eachother. it was happening mostly on my itouch. i think it only happend once on my iphone. it hasnt done it in a while tho, so i may have deleted the app that was causing the problem.

I also have twice now since owning my phone. A screen has come up showing me to connect my phone to itunes with the cable. It shows No Service and will only let you make an emergency call. After I connected it to my comp and itunes, a few seconds later it comes up and says "phone is activated" Well I was out one day, had my phone off for about 2 hours. I turned it on, stuck it in my pocket. Well 45 mins later I went to do something on my phone. It had the "Connect to itunes" image on the screen. I was like , I'm not anywhere near my comp to do this. I turned it off and restarted, and it was gone. It said once again "phone activated" I don't know what the deal with that is either LoL. I know jail breaking or anything can have some bugs, maybe this one is it also. I'm not worried about it, as long as I can restart the phone and it goes away. Oh well, not any big problems. I love the phone, it's alot better than my old blackberry with internet, atleast the damn screen looks like real internet pages and not some 1990 hotmail webpage. EDIT** So far after just thinking about this quickly, I searched after making my post and found this thread " http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/...m/623006227931 " The person that has had the same issue never did jail break his, so it could be almost anything. There's also a way to upload the videos right to youtube if you wanted to using pixel pipe (free in appstore) and video enabler (cydia) but i haven't tried that yet.

I have a 2g, and mines unlocked, so i could take the sim card out, and it will still boot right up wihout showing me that connect to itunes thing. If your phone is a 3g, and you havent already upgraded to firmware 2.2.1, then try unlocking it with quickpwn. if you have 2.2.1 you cant unlock the 3g. so if you upgraded, you might be stuck living with it.
