how much should i charge?

like the title says, what would be a good price to charge for this.i remounted the tank and made new brackets for it to set lower, cut out the bed floor and made a all new sheetmetal floor with a hatch in the back so you can get to the comp.,vavles,tank,ect.the guy brought the truck and the metal to me,so what do you think?

I'm with this guy, $500... unless like posted before it was for one of your buddies, then maybe $350-$400.

The way that I look at it, if I'm doing work outside of my actual job I'll charge the person about what I would get paid to be at work or a little more.

Time = Money... especially for custom sheetmetal work.

Re: how much should i charge?

id say if you are truly friends with him and told him its no problem id love to do it, blah blah. Then you should only charge him what you believe you would wanna be charged for the work you had done.

If you hinted at any point in time a round about price, then be honest and keep your word to him and go with that price or something close to that price.

If its no big deal to you and you dont really care about the money then just go with something cheap and something for you, like others said 350$ if its for a true friend.

Re: how much should i charge?

Let me ask you this, Did you charge him when you did all the other stuff to his truck? If so, then just base it off that. If not, it's going to be kinda hard to ask for to much cause you never charged him before.

ya i charged him,but it was all dirt cheap.$300 for the backhalf and bag install,$20 to shave a few things and alot of other small thngs for free.im not looking for much for doing this, but i think he's thinking like $50 or free, hell that dont even cover the electric,i use some of my own cut off wheels, wire and wire ends, bolts and nuts.i told him to pay me what he thought was fair,so ill see 2day.also iv only known him for a few mounths so im not that close with him

Re: how much should i charge?

get AT LEAST what youve put into his truck with tools, electricity and so on. Dont go paying to fix his truck up.

If he has a problem with it then tell him look i used my own tools, used welding wire, electricity, cut off wheels, and spent 20 hours or MY time on it, at least gimme what im asking to cover the cost of materials and a little bit of my time.
Make sure hes aware that any shop would have charged him $600+ or $1k+, and that your workmanship and time is just as important and hopefully wont go unnoticed.

BTW it looks good.
