How long should i wait?

so i bought an indash dvd player off eBay about 2 weeks ago, payed with paypal, got the receipt and all that. i didn't get anything from the seller until i emailed him 2 days after payment. he said he got the payment and was shipping it first thing the next morning and would get back with me with the tracking number. so far i haven't heard from him after that. so how long should i wait until i open a dispute with him or paypal. i haven't bought anything off eBay with paypal until this indash,so i don't really have a clue what/when to do it.

i know there is a rule that after so long you CANT open a dispute, i think it might even be 30 days, i had an issue with something like this before, if you are really suspicious about this guy i would open a case asap

Re: How long should i wait?

I recently had to file a PayPal dispute over almost the exact situation. Bought a Viper security system, immediately paid for it, guy told me he would give me a tracking number ASAP. Week went by and no tracking number. So I first filed a dispute and a day later the guy claimed "his assistant sent it to the wrong address while he was on vacation". He said he would "try and refund my money" Another week passed and no refund or email. So I escaladed the dispute to a claim. He had two weeks to respond to PayPal and he didn't so PayPal refunded my money. First time being scammed on Ebay.

You have 45 days from payment to start an Item Not Received (INR) dispute, after 45 days you can not file a dispute. After you file a INR dispute on PayPal, if you and the seller can not come to an compromise or the seller doesn't respond then escalate the dispute to a claim. You ONLY have 20 days after you file the dispute to escalate the dispute to a claim, otherwise PayPal auto closes the dispute and therefore no refund.

I would wait a week and see what happens. If no respond from the seller, then file a INR dispute on PayPal!
