Forgotten muscle?
Can you think of some speedy rides that have been overlooked, like the 401ci AMC Javelin or the Turbo 4.9 T/A?

Re: Forgotten muscle?
best car ever made by the factory: 68 hemi dart. 426 race hemi complete with dual 4's, big solid lift cam, headers ect stuffed into a factory gutted, ultralightweight 2 door dart. ran 8's off the showroom floor with just the addition of traction bars and 10" slicks. but you never hear about them because they were sold from the dealers without titles, and there were 100 ever made. 51 4 speeds, 49 automatics.

Re: Forgotten muscle?
At the monthly cruise-in dad and I go to I saw a first for me.
1971 Chevy Vega Yenko Stinger II featuring a turbocharged 4-banger. Never ever knew such a thing existed. Pretty dang cool. Last edited by NCarolina910 : 07-10-2009 at 01:28 AM. |

Not necessarily muscle cars, but definitely forgotten were the 1980/1981 Turbo Monte Carlo's with the Buick 3.8L turbo V6's:

Re: Forgotten muscle?
The 301 Turbo T/A was a joke new & is still one 30 years later. The 3.8L V6 Buick turbo was a much better engine. Still not a barn stormer, but remember the era.
The Buick GS was an understated stump puller. The 84 LTD II had the Mustang GT engine & suspension in it. The 03 Mercury Maurader was the least marketed car Ford ever put out but likely one of their best efforts. The 04-06 GTO was a best car GM n'ever sold. |

Re: Forgotten muscle?
Lol at the Turbo T/A with burt.
I've always been partial to AMX's. They're not forgotten by anymeans, but they're not as abundant as you Chevelles, camaros, mustangs etc... and there are a number of people that have never heard of them. I hope to purchase one some day. |

Re: Forgotten muscle?
'70 Buick GS 455. Holds the record for having the most ft.lbs of torque ever in a production car. It was advertised at 500ish ft.lbs but was wayyy more than that. Eat that Mopar.

Re: Forgotten muscle?
thats the same one my dad had ! he traded it for a harley in 02. the guy he got it from parked it in 1978 and it sat in that barn till 01' when dad bought it after the guy died. found the build sheet under the back seat and the car only had 22k miles on it when we got it.
he had a couple 442's he restored als. those OLDS will bring some loot when restored. |
