Food products made in China

Food products made in China

I have seen more and more stuff that now says made in China.

Holiday candy was all I seen before but now cookies.
Got a nice tin of RichFields danish butter cookies, real fancy kind.
Ate about half of if then looked on the bottom.

Made in China.

I do not trust China's food standard in my house.

You may not care, just be forewarned to look closer now, you cannot trust the brands you use to know.

They put lead in our toys, Then some nasty stuff that ended up in pet food, killing pets, whats gonna be ok in their eyes for people food to save a penny?

[And no one would put lead in food right? Nope, a place in Mexico was busted for using it in candy for both weight and added flavor. Why kids ate lead paint chips, its sweet.]

Re: Food products made in China

That nasty stuff was the chemical that attracts animals to antifreeze because of it's sweet flavor, never leave antifreeze spills out

Re: Food products made in China

Yea and a shit load of stuff marked made in the U.S.A. are actually made in china. I worked for a company that sells dog feeders. All parts are made in china all we did was rivet them together. So that purty lil sticker doesnt mean nothing.

Re: Food products made in China

People are cheap bastards. They don't care.

We have chinese brake pads at work that are like $12 to $15. I wouldn't put that shit on a donkey cart but we sell them like hot donuts.

I don't even mention those pads. I start at the $20 pads.

I got to ride next to their cheap ass too.

Re: Food products made in China

Yeah, this spans a whole gamut of products.

Right now, the company I work for has computer power supplies dropping like flies. This brings our machines to a screeching halt.

Where are the defective power supplies made, you ask?

China.

I've replaced (at last count) 44 of them in the past year and a half. We never seemed to have this problem with the ones made in Canada.

You ever see the price of a Harley Davidson? The majority of middle class America would become lower middle class to poor America if they had to spend more of their budget on shit made in America. We love cheap shit, but hate poor quality. You cant have it both ways. China is a cheap source of labor. Companies worldwide take advantage of this. They use cheap labor and cheap materials to give you the consumer, a half assed product that you will buy because its a few bucks less than the competition made somewhere else. So you get some fancy new toy, that is going to break in a year, the company gets paid, and the Chinese get about 2 dollars a day.

Re: Food products made in China

Start makin your own cookies. Its not hard at all, and its much cheaper, not to mention better than anything you can get at the market. You can mix up some flour, sugar, butter, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, etc in a bowl and throw them in the oven right?

I don' buy to much pre made, boxed, frozen, etc food. So i don't worry to much about whats in my food. I try to make it all fresh and from scratch so i usually know whats in my food.

Maybe if more people would get back to the basics of actually cooking from scratch and not buying foods in a box from another country we wouldn't have these problems. Might help with us being the most obese people in the world too. Its one of those forgotten passions, imo, cooking. It's not just for women anymore lol.

Careful with the Canada stuff as I worked for a company that was based in canada for ag equipment. They sent a gear box over to china to have them make one to compare quality and everything and they got back an exact duplicate with made in Canada on them, even with the lil mark they put in to determin which was theres when they got it back. Needless to say the cost savings was great on them and they had china fix it so it says made in china on them and now they sell a shite ton of replacement gears and gearboxes for there equipment now.

Re: Food products made in China

i was just talking about this the other day with my uncle. about how all we do is outsource the jobs in our country so the big companys can make thier money and leave the comsumer with crappy produces. If Obama was any sort of president that people make him out to be, instead of making us billions of dollars in debt, he should at least put a limit on the amount of jobs a company can out source, say no more then 30% of total labor force? not only would it bring jobs back home, but we could also not depend on the chinese for everything

He's been in office less than a year. It takes some companies longer than that to figure out which comic figure to put on their latest soda can...

Be realistic. When was he supposed to have proposed this bill limiting the amount of jobs a company can outsource? Before dealing with Iraq? Afghanistan? Gitmo? The economy? Unemployment? Medical Care? The G20 meeting? Iran's nuclear ambitions? Japan's new government rhetoric? The Copenhagen meeting on climate change?

I agree that outsourcing ****s with our own employment issues, but blaming the current president for something he hasnt even had a chance to do something about just doesnt make sense.

And to the OP, sorry about getting off topic.

Are you sure the cookies were made in China, or was it just the tin they were made in?

I would probably say the tin was and was laced with lead paint and god knows how much other toxic chemicals were used in that.

Re: Food products made in China

Thats why the economy is terrible now. Instead of bying quality American parts companies buy cheap parts made by some 8 year old in China. Its hard to find anything made in the USA now. Even if you can you probably cant afford it. The worst thing is most of the stuff that says made in America really means foreign parts assembled in America. This could all have been avoided if it wasn't for the greedy and selfish bastards that are the CEOs of most companies

Old wives tale, the industry has since added a bitter substrate to the antifreeze to keep this from happening. Actually, it was because people were getting poisoned from accidentally ingesting it.

We used the same Canadian manufacturer from 1998 - 2005, until that particular power supply went EOL (end of life) due to ROHS standards. There are 3000+ of those out in the field, and those particular power supplies have had a failure rate of 0.7% throughout their lifespan. The Chinese manufactured units (completely different manufacturer) have a failure rate of 6% during their 12 months of use, and 24% fail in 12 to 24 months.

Good side? Job security for me.
Bad side? It costs a ton of money to dispatch a tech to fix this issue.

This is just one example of why prices go up on things. On the flip side of the coin, we could probably source a better quality power supply; issue would be fixed. According to our Quality Bulletin, those were a "bad batch" and the replacement units have had the failure point fixed. Whatever.

Maybe if we keep buying from them all the illegals will go back home to where the jobs are. Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation. And yeah most engines are made in Mexico and they seem to be holding up well.

Over feeding them to the animals.
They were very greasy/lardey. First thing I did was mix them in with some icecream and milk and it turn it into a texture like crisco.
If they wern't covered in sugar I would of not eaten them.
But that made it do-able.
That large rock salt sized sugar crystals, mmmmm sugar.
Why I don't buy cookies, even not so good one will disapear in mins.

So you don't trust them... enough to make thread about them, but you continued to eat them b/c you're a fat ass.
And the safety of your family is enough to not eat them, but the safety of your animals I guess is slim to nil?

Re: Food products made in China

There was actually something all over the news in cT a year or two ago about places that were selling made in china toothpaste that contained one of the same chemicals thats found in antifreeze. They pulled it all off the shelves and urged consumers to avoid anything food or health related that was made in china.. Scary shit.
