intermediate tracks > plate tracks

i was at Darlington last May when Kyle won, and was at the fall Lowes race. Talladega is the redneck capital. Martinsville isn't bad either.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

yeah, I have been going to Daytona for years, used to go to the 500, but last time I went there was with my dad in 2004, havent been back since cause he passed away later that year.Been goint to the 400 ever since, best thing about that race is the crown isnt as big as the 500 crowd, but its all good. Got to see Smoke win a couple there. Sucks this year cause I LOVE THE BACK STRETCH, but they have shut it down for the 400, so now wea are sitting on the front stretch

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

ahhh, me too...cant wait til California, where my boy smoke will take home the hardware

seriously though, all of Speedweeks needs to be re-evaluated, there is no sense in coming into Daytona for two solid weeks like they do. They coupld make this a one week deal easily. They could do the shootout on a Wednesday night, qualify on Thursday, the twins on Fri before the truck race, Busch race on Saturday and the 500 on Sunday. I love NASCAR, it is the only sport I follow, period, but what is hurting this sport is over saturation.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

Yea there is like 36 actual races that have points attached to them and like 4 that dont.
I totally think that they have a hard sport, like that running from Feb to Nov, but come on running two weeks at dayton in Feb and two weeks a charlotte for the all star race and then the real race but every other track gets only one week at a time come in what make charlotte any better then say RIR, Indy, or walkins glenn.
I would love to see more road races and maybe a little shorter season.
With so many races no wonder NASCAR is in a little bit of a rut with sponsors and what not.

they are in Charlotte for 3 weeks...they need to knock pocono down to one race, same with dover...and add a road course to the chase

i forgot they were in charlotte for 3 weeks. well i think that pocono can be turned into a road course of some sort, but if not let them run the rolex road course at daytona for one race im sure they wouldnt mind. find some of the other places that get used like seabring (sp) or some other place

I think that if they were gonna add a road course race to the schedule, it should be either VIR or road Atlanta

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

Yeah thats is the only downside to the chase, if NASCAR is going to crown a champion using a 10 race playoff system, than that system should include every discipline the circuit races on during the year. Maybe make it 1 plate track/superspeedway, 2 two superspeedways, 3 1.5 mile intermediate tracks, 1 road course and 3 short tracks

Should have been there. I don't know what they were saying on TV, and what you saw, but it had been raining for a good long while before they called the race. Hell before it even went to caution for the last time it'd been raining. I think they waited a fair ammount of time before they ended it. I do hate the race ended under caution, but I don't think it was a money move or anything sinister by Nascar. I'm not happy Kenseth won either, but it could have been worse. Could have been Kyle Busch.

I went down for my first ever Daytona 500. First time in Florida actually. Saturday was a beautiful day down there. Hot even. Mid 80's and sunny as hell. Got me a good ol sunburn. Sunday was a complete other story. Started out mild and then went to cool and then cold. Real cold. Sucked. Then the rain came. I had a lot of fun bein down there this weekend, having inzone passes, Sprint Fanzone passes, getting to see the garage area, all the cars, got some great pictures of all the big name drivers and even a couple owners. Sunday the pre-race show as great. It was cool getting to go out on the track. Weather just killed it though. I'm used to shivvering watching the March race in the Tennessee mountains at Bristol. Didn't think I'd be doing the same in Daytona Beach, Florida. Then the rain came. Called the dam race early and we had to shuffle through lines like cattle to get on a bus back to the parking lot. Plus Dale Jr had a bad day which really bummed me out. I don't know where his head was. I do blame Vickers for that wreck though. He put Earnhardt in a position where he had to do something. All in all though it was an amazing experience. It was so cool being at Daytona, driving on the bach, going to the track, and having full run of the infield.

Plus I came home and see I finished 3rd in the S10Forum fantasy nascar thingy.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

I learned my lesson on changing my picks during the middle of the week. After the qualifying races I moved AJ off my C list and put Armolia on my C list. It looked like the 01 car was a little more racey. That move jewed me over, oh well next year... lol

I am sure this weekend with be another learning experence for me having standard qualifying proseadure and picking the right drivers to get the bonus points for qualifying.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

At California, you will want to look at the qualifying order on www.jayski.com, and base your picks off of that if you are going for qualifying points. The later a car goes out in the order the lower the track temp and ambient temp is the more the track picks up speed. But the driver will have to be fast anyways, but they can pick up anywhere from a tenth to three tents a second just based on the qualifying order.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

Well, I mean at Daytona you really cant judge how well a car is going to qualify, there are too many factors that will sway your opinion either way. It will depend on how much downforce the car has built in it (as much as one can with the COT)which would make him handle better in traffic, or maybe he has a little more drag built into the car which would make him better out front of a pack. Plate racing is like a roulette wheel all weekend. But if you dont have any Roush drivers in your line up, you will be sorry, a Roush car had won the spring race here 4 out of the last 5 years, the last non Roush driver to win this race was the 24 back in 2004

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

You can get the qualifying order on Nascar.com. I never liked gossip/rumor sites like Jayski. That is as bad as reading Nascar Scene...do they even still print that newspaper? My dad had a subscription to that in the mid 1990's.

So is there a fantacy thing for NHRA drag racing? I havent watched drag racing for years, might get me fired up to watch it again.

damnit stop helping the competition

and yeah, Jayski is pretty good. I've got friends in the industry and whenever something pops up on Jayski I can double check it with them. I'd say 4 out of 5 times it's legit.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

You know I was tempted to pick Kenseth early on this week, but then thought "there's no way he can win again right after Daytona." Damnit I was wrong! I did good with picking Jimmie (he has been rockin that track in the past after all) and I did good with Denny Hamlin. The 'Dinger let me down.

I guess I'll take 4th place. For not. Gotta get better though.

I didnt mess with my picks at all this week, left them the same as Daytona, I didnt do too bad though, got the Shrub and Smoke in the top 10, but had Newman who finished what....28th and Labonte, I didnt pay attention to where he finished. Had I benched Newman, I would have been just as screwed cause my bench driver was Jr

I might fiddle with mine a bit and bench Labonte for sorenson, then Bench Newman for Waltrip...I thing he will run better next week after the blown engine tonight. Waltrip didnt do too bad tonight either

I'm not a fan of either of them, but as far as my fantasy pics are concerned, I sure hope Kesnseth and Vickers can safely make their way up from the back of the pack. I need a good week.

Re: Fantasy Nascar Anyone????

meh, I know I am gonna piss some people off by posting this, but I am gonna say how I feel. The only reason he gets so much hype is cause of the following:

EARNHARDT

there is NOWAY his popularity can be due to his driving or championship winning skill. He is mediocre in that regard

jk...

Yeah, its the name, but people expect to much out of him after what his dad accomplished. the truth is, he isn't like his dad, in no way close to does he drive like his dad. so he isn't going to win alot of championships, now i believe he will win at least one. but never 7.
