dealers ruining craigslist

Is it just me or do others feel that used car dealers are ruining Craigslist by littering the "cars & trucks for sale" section with garbage?

It's my opinion tat used car dealers are making it increasingly difficult for individual sellers to post their vehicles for sale on Craigslist. At the same time, for those other individuals who are attempting to use Craigslist to search for a decently priced used car, the ads by dealers create a mess that potential car buyers must sift through in order to find a car whose owner actually knows the history of the vehicle and is not (always) attempting to rape someone with their asking price.

I have considered e-mailing Criagslist with my gripe, but feel that as an individual it would not go far and would do very little more than waste the time it would take me to write such an e-mail.

Isn't craigslist kept free by sponsers in different sections like autos and jobs? I could be wrong but I thought that was one of the things that kept it free for everyone.

Re: dealers ruining craigslist

well you can filter them out by selecting autos by owner, or dealer, or even both. but there is some filtering in place

Try to look in the real estate section, I had stuff from Texas, Ohio, Kentucky.... and I'm in California.

Or the personals section, haha, it's all spam there too.

Re: dealers ruining craigslist

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'm scared Craigslist is going downhill. When it was first getting popular about a year or so ago before everyone and their brother, sister, father, and monther knew about it it was amazing. Still si good, but not *as* good IMHO. Now I'm scared the "cars & trucks for sale" section is gonna get like AutoTrader. That's another prime example of something used car dealers ruined.

Re: dealers ruining craigslist

haha! I was just thinking about this. Yeah its pretty stupid. Also people posting totally irrelevant things in different sections. Like Blenders in auto parts...

Re: dealers ruining craigslist

yea dealers are ruining it, im always on craigslist looking to buy cars ..the problem with the filter is if you search for just owners some post by owners dont come up because not all are marked, and like 3 or 4 numbers i called this week were dealers saying they were owners
