![]() This article has been updated with TSB 02-06-01-003B, 4/15/08 This bulletin is being revised to include a Notice advising that the cylinder head bolts are NOT TO BE RE-USED . Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-06-01-003A. Notice: This component uses torque-to-yield bolts. When servicing this component, do not re-use the bolts. New torque-to-yield bolts must be installed. Re-using used torque-to-yield bolts will not provide proper bolt torque and clamp load. Failure to install NEW torque-to-yield bolts may lead to engine damage. Tighten the NEW cylinder head bolts to 60 Nm (44 lb ft) in the order shown. Use the J 36660-A torque angle meter in order to rotate the cylinder head bolts an additional 95 degrees . |

Thanks so much man. That is exactly what i needed! Is there any other way to torque the bolts without that meter.

Re: Chevy venture head torque specs and sequence.
You didn't mention if you're putting new bolts in or using the old ones, but here's a suggestion. Buy the new ones. I tried to reuse the bolts on my S10 once, and they failed quickly. I didn't know at the time that when you torque them, they stretch ever so slightly, and if you don't put the same bolt back in the same hole, you'll never get it right. New bolts were like $20 and well worth it.

Re: Chevy venture head torque specs and sequence.
With just a regular torque wrench, then went a quarter turn past. If I remember right, some were 45 pounds, others were 50. I followed a Haynes manual.

Re: Chevy venture head torque specs and sequence.
torque them down with a torque wrench set on 44 lb/ft... then turn all of them an additional 95 degrees... on the s10 i just drew a line on each bolt and turned them so they were (XX) degrees.
