The right formula to use is.. Force=Pressure x Area(sq.in)

so you are right...2sq.in x 100psi= 200lbs of force.

greencactus is right by saying 100psi applied to any cylinder bore area is still going to be 100pounds of pressure per square inch, if you increase the area your "force" on the cylinder will go up(not pressure applied)

Re: Call me Doug Dehaven

hard to tell but it looks like a parker cylinder and maybe a allen bradley valve? What you really need to do though is a get a larger bore cylinder maybe a 4 inch or so.

exactly. op just used the wrong units. psi is a pressure. lbs is a force. slugs is a mass

OK, time for pneumatic can crusher V.2

i finally got around to doing this, i just put the slowdowns on so thats why it doesnt go down fully in one hit on the remote, i need to program it to go longer.

and no can do on the full can on the wall mounted crusher, my brother took it with him when he moved out.

176.625 Lbs of force

Sweet rig though man!

mount that valve under the can guide shoot through a slot

drop the can in push gently this will start the cylender to move thus holding the valve down (cam on ram rod lol) then at full compression it will pop open and the air ram will return to start waiting for the next can lol

Or (2) 3 way valves latching relay and proximity sensor lol fully auto

oh and Doug DeHaven
