I'm just taking it how it really is, an we all know that you are using some pretty damn stupid reasoning. So either you really are that stupid, or you really are trying (and failing) to save facen (to which as most says the same thing ).

because i dont think standing outside all night is worth 300$(or whatever amount your gonna be saving) im dumb? thats all a matter of opinion.. obviously its worth it to you, but not to me. whats so hard to understand?

I don't bust out the jacket til 55ish, 40 I'll bust out the coat if I plan on being outside for a while.
Other than that my house, truck and work all have working HVAC systems so I have no need or desire to get accustomed to cool weather as some call it.

To (partialy) quote one of your own statements:

where did i ever say that?

exactly, no where.

You need to comprehend wait you are replying to (it might be hard considering you are bent out of shape ). I, as well as several others, are saying all your logic you've been trying to counter with is stupid. VERY STUPID.

Now, if you really believe that logic, then......

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

I don't know, I used to work at Meijer and I had to pass out the TV's the were $750 less than what they retail for. I'll GLADLY stand in line to save $750 on a nice 37" LCD HDTV. But then again after reading this thread I'm a tard. So they essentially made almost $100/hour while I was working and only make $6.75/hour. I'd do it for sure.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

lol, it was pretty cold the night i did it. but walking around, talking with people, and someone doing hot choc runs every now and again helped. the best were the people who set up their Clam Shell ice fishing things. pussies.

I was in line for 4-5 hrs before making my payoff. was well worth it. I would do it again for sure, but two things holding me back.

1. There is no must have item this Christmas. Video Game systems have been out for a while and plenty in stock.
2. Economy. Unless some rich family were to roll up again, nobody is going to over spend to make sure they get the good spot in line.

So maybe when the new Playstation or Xbox comes out I will do it again.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

So that explains all the posts the top 5 posters have . Usually it's a sign of knowledge on a hobby based forum but this is S10forum. Rules are backwards!

I wouldn't sit outside all night. I'd rather buy it on eBay and wait a couple days for shipping. It was pretty sweet working at a retail store on Black Friday though. Last year I got a sweet 26" HDTV for $250 and thats what my comp and 360 is on. Good buy too it's a nice TV. This year, maybe I can buy everyone a set of GM accessory floormats

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

I don't think its "retarded" to wait in line for 3-4 hours for a $300+ saving purchase(s).

My Mom goes to Walmart every year for Black Friday, since she gets up around 5ish am everyday, getting up at 3-4 am for one day isn't hard for her. She waits in line and for the past 3 years she's gotten a new computer and other small things. The new comp she has now she saved over $400 dollars on and its a lot nicer than mine.

Black Friday is the best day to get deals on big items (TVs, comps, Blu-ray, stereo...). If you think about it, you get up early for one day, wait a few hours in line and you could save hundreds of dollars on items that you could have for many years. It makes sense to me and if it's "retarded," then I guess I'm Rainman.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

I've done the black friday thing for years now. I mainly shop for things that I could use around the house and for entertainment. I may only show up an hour or two before they open the store. But granted its been a in-law process for years. Now since there are 5 of us with licenses we will hit up 5 stores @ a time. unless there is a big item @ one then will tag team that store. But other then that. I'll hit up BB if something for me is really on sale or for the in-laws, also Target, sears, and wherever they may have something that I am looking for. I hope Scheels has ammo on sale again this year.

Truth.

If I spent a night in a tent outside of a retail establishment, I would not be able to stand up and walk (much less run, which is typically a requirement for when the doors open up on retail establishments), due to lower back problems. More power to those of you that DO camp out for Black Friday deals. Lower back pain isn't worth the money I'd save for doing so.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

I've always just gotten to Sears 20 minutes before it opens and I am like one of the first 50 people inside the store and Ive always gotten what I wanted. Really not a lot of hassle, and I get a lot of savings. Now waiting outside Best Buy for 12 hours the night before is a bit beyond what Im willing to do, but if people wanna save money then I don't blame em.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

There are some good deals and there are some crap sales. Granted if its a killer sale or even a good price on something that you have money for it works out in your benefit. Now I don't camp out and think its kinda stupid as some camp out for days before thnxgvn. I will get up @ 3-4am and go shopping in the morn @ certain stores. Now if it isn't a major item for me to get but would like I will hit up that store after the items that I want. Now I don't shop for people on BF, but I shop for myself, and my household. There's a difference of those that are out there to actually get xmas gifts and those that are like well if I get it I get it and if not will look for something similar.

Yeah, some stores, like Sears, usually don't have the huge lines. You can get there like a half hour before opening and still be one of the first people in the door.

I got mine from my electronics supplier but they are out there. I think newegg may have them. Mine right now last I checked was under $80. There is no fan in them so they do get warm but the enclosure seems to dissipate well. Then again its only plugged in when backing up or pulling some data off so not used lots. I have forgotten it plugged in for a week or so but haven't had any issues and a friend referred me to them and he is in the computer industry.

Check them out here
http://www.lacie.com/us/index.htm

When I get home will try and find my box and get you the specs if you want.

It's a clearance item, the price will not go up, it may go down, but being that it is a clearance item, it may go out of stock at anytime.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

The more I look at the ads that have been posted so far the more discouraged I get. I see nothing so far worth waiting out for that I want except for the $1400 tool chest for $700, a leather jacket, and a few more things @ Sears.

So far:
  • No-Target
  • No-Best Buy, they usually always have the best prices on everything. I heard they're not having many good deals because Circuit City is no longer around.
  • No-Target
  • ?-Walmart. I haven't seen their ad yet and I've heard it's going to be more organized this year but I don't really want to get trampled unless I can get a really good settlement out of it. I think that one woman in NY got 4 million.
  • Maybe-Sears
Just seems like this is going to be a crappy year for Black Friday.

That's cool but it's probably just a 60hz compared to the 600hz plasma, I already have a 56" 1080p(DLP, but looks sick) so I really don't need another big one, but it's still a good deal. I feel that if I get a better/newer TV(old one is like a 1990 25" Sylvania) for upstairs then the wife won't rag on me for playing MW2 or games in general on my TV downstairs in my dungeon.

I'm also on the lookout for a nice D-SLR camera because I would like to get into photography, so if I don't get a TV I'll be getting a camera.

Re: Black Friday - November 27th

Ok, upon looking at the original prices of Best Buys TVs, the savings are only like $80, no kidding their deals are slacking this year. I should pay more attention haha. My plan is still Best Buy though because of their no interest for 3 years on $999+ purchases, I have $1400 to spend on my card so fvck it.

There's a smaller chain electronics business around here. They have 3 stores in 3 big cities in the tri-state. Last year they offered 5 year no interest on anything over 1k. If they do it this year I'll probably head there.
