Anyone into sand rails?

After watching countless youtube videos, I'm almost thinking about buying a sand rail. I live just over an hour from the dunes and already have a trailer I could use to tow one. From the looks of it, they look pretty fun to drive. I'd probably look into a 2 seater with a VW motor. I'd love to have one with a 4.3L, but the few I've seen for sale are a bit overpriced IMO. I figure there's gotta be someone here whose had one.

Re: Anyone into sand rails?

One of my buddies just sold a fugitive chassis with king shocks and rx7 rotary (not sure what one though)
they are pretty fun and in sand id rather haven that or a quad. Not really a bike fan in the sand. It was a blast to drive but never drove any others (in sand) so hard to compare.

Got a ride in a funco biggie that was unreal but those bitches are a lot of $$$$$ this one had air suspension and a wrx motor supposedly putting out around 450 hp

I've drove a few vw powered ones in fields though not in the sand but was still fun.

If you find a deal go for it.

Being in Vancouver your pretty close to the Oregon dunes too within reason anyway. We usually go to coosbay so its quite the drive from up here.

97ext cab - fbss, 1/2 danz, sd 5 link & arms, re7s up front re8s rear, 2 5gal tanks, shocks frnt&rear, swaybar, dual 480s/sanden edc,avs switch box, train horn, hydro boost, tubbed, shaved,

Re: Anyone into sand rails?

One of my old neighbors had one with a wrx motor. The thing was loud as hell but sounded sweet. Sometimes he'd drive it up and down the street.

I love those things. I get lost watching those youtube videos. They say now i s the time to buy before they go back up in price. You could even build one. I want to.
