A/C Help (Jeep Liberty)

I have an interesting A/C problem on my wifes Liberty. When you first start the vehicle up and turn the A/C on, no problem, ice cold just like it should be. Pressure reading says full (on low side).

Drive around a bit more and it starts to get warmer and gradually the pressure increases. WTF?!

I have made sure the coolant level is fine so as to not have the car to try and bypass the compressor. No leaks anywhere, so I am stumped. What is something that could be causing this?

Re: A/C Help (Jeep Liberty)

Is your e-fan kicking on when it should? Assuming its electric.

A couple things i've read are bad/corroded relays. Bad clutches at 90-100k and one guy had a bad BCM, but his was blowing hot/cold/hot/cold

I'd start by checking out the relay

Re: A/C Help (Jeep Liberty)

Either the A/C pressure switch is bad, or the E-Fan isn't kicking on.

Re: A/C Help (Jeep Liberty)

as stated above the A/C fan sounds to not be kicking on.

Wouldn't hurt to check the condensor for being clogged up as well.

I had considered that, but if it was clogged it wouldn't be cold when it started up would it?

Re: A/C Help (Jeep Liberty)

im fairly confident your fan should kick on with the compressor.
