Until they lose to OSU in a few weeks and then go back into obscurity.

Re: 2009 college football thread

Great games yesterday for the top 3 ... i didnt watch any other so i dont know about them but #1 flordia and #3 Texas winnin by 3 ... thats not good for them on unranked teams ... Bama played shitty on offense .. again ... defense has not let a TD in 2 games ... and we have lost 2 of our best defensivemen ... i dont know the status too lazy to look up ... McClain is still playing good ... Ingram is runnin the hell outta that ball along with Upchurch .... if the offense can get in tune for Tenn and let us blow past TN then we wont struggle too bad with LSU ... Tennessee's coach likes to run his mouth it seems like but they dont completely back it up but that back it up enough to show they arnt letting up easy ... they done great against Tennessee and they beat Georgia which suprised me ... Auburn won't do to well this year ... LSU,well, they always give Bama a game ... but i dont think it will be a game like it was last year ... ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Oh stop yourself. Virginia Tech is by far the best 2 loss team this season. The first to Bama' which is undoubtedly the best team in the NCAA despite the close loss to Tennessee. As for TCU and BSU, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. I don't think Norte Dame and BSU are going to play in bowls because I beleive only one non-BCS conference team is invited to the BCS bowls. Cincy is on a roll too I won't be suprised if they go undefeated. Who is your team? Wait, let me guess, USC? Florida? Texas?

Being the "best" 2 loss team != Top 10 or even 15-20 team. They're right where they should be....right around 15th.

Apparently no one remembers 2 years ago when KU rose through the ranks quickly and were being called "over-rated" for the last 5-6 weeks but yet, when it's TCU or BSU, it's ok. Funny how that works.
And yeah, Cincy probably will go undefeated...they don't play anyone either.

Why does it matter who my team is? Does that have any effect on whether or not a team has a tough or easy schedule and what their ranking should be?

Re: 2009 college football thread

Well it does matter especially if you like USC. Who do they play all year? OSU which has been choking all year long, and Notre Dame which is pretty much been a joke for the past couple of years. IMO, Tennessee probably has the hardest schedule in the NCAA, they face Georgia, Florida, Bama', Auburn, OSU (well nevermind ), and Kentucky. TCU pretty much handed BYU their asses on a silver platter yesterday. Sad thing is both BSU and TCU won't be in a BCS bowl but I'd love to see BSU take on a team from the ACC or SEC.

i'm still recovering from IU blowing a 20+ point lead yesterday to northwestern. . .that game would have put us 1 win away from a bowl game. . .

That's probably why Tenn. is 3-4 right now.

BSU could probably take on Ole Piss and give a good game....maybe Georgia. But there's no way in hell they'd hang with UF, Tide or LSU.

And I don't like any of the PAC-10, let alone USC. Not even really sure where you got that idea from, you've brought it up out of thin air.

Re: 2009 college football thread

Dunno you posted a picture of the USC logo so it was an assumption. BSU played Georgia a couple years ago and got rocked, but I think they are a much stronger team now.

And didn't they beat Oklahoma in a bowl game a few years ago too. But I'm sure that was just a fluke right... I think it's very ignorant to assume that there can't be quality teams outside of the major conferences.

Hey I'm on BSU's side not against. Georgia was a great school a couple years ago. And yes I do remember the win against Oklahama two years ago.

Not really directing that at you. Just in general. Seems to be the overall attitude of most people when talking about teams like BSU.

Ahh yes that is indeed true. I'm pissed at how Michigan started 5-0 and just dropped every game since then. God damnit they are going to be a good team next year though.

Re: 2009 college football thread

look, i'm a huge boise st fan. . .i've been watching them for about 10 year now. . .but zap does have a point about the schedule, which i've already admitted that the schedule isn't particularly tough, but it's not a cakewalk either. . .one of the biggest problems for boise is the fact that alot of non conference schools refuse to play them. . .losing to a florida or alabama can go along way of helping your program if you have a great showing against them. . .but it doesn't work that way for boise st. . .they could have 2 undefeated seasons in a row, and schools like LSU, florida, and alabama will not play them in non conference games. . .they do not want to lose a game to a non bcs school. . .losing to boise st hurts your shot at a bcs bowl game more than losing to a penn state or michigan (when they're actually good again) even if boise is 9-0 and penn state is 6-3 . . .alot of people won't admit to it, but it does. . .

Re: 2009 college football thread

That's a very good point I did hear Herbie say that during College GameDay. I still would love to see a team from the ACC, SEC, or Big 12 play BSU. Just wait until next year when VT plays BSU

Re: 2009 college football thread

it's bad enough IU had to go into hostile territory to play Iowa. . .then to have to beat the officials and Iowa is just too much to ask out of any team right now. . .

Re: 2009 college football thread

I noticed that too. Every call except 1 went against IU. The officials just have it out for Coach Lynch every game. I'm really questioning the BCS right about now. Especially with the Florida Miss St game.

Re: 2009 college football thread

i hate blaming the loss of a game on the officials, but this was one of those games where the officiating crew decided the final outcome of that game. . .i hate conspiracy theories, but Iowa is the only Big Ten school that stands a chance at a BCS game, and an outside opportunity at the national title, and it wouldn't surprise me if that officiating crew gave them a little non-official help to get there. . .

at best they'll be tied. .they both play ohio state, which i think they'll both win, but iowa only has northwestern and minnesota to play after that. . .penn state has to go through IU, who has played tough in all but 2 games, and they have to go to michigan state to win the final game of the season. . .so more than likely, Iowa has got this one. . .

Yeah I'm thinking Iowa is the Big Ten winner already. Isn't it if they have a tie in the final standings, the winner is whoever won the game between #1 and #2 through the regular season?

Unfortunately, I think so, which sucks because Iowa will lose to unranked Ohio St.

Which is another reason the Big 10 needs to do a fvckin Conference title game instead of just the #1 in conference play. Should Iowa lose to OSU, PSU and Iowa will both have 1 conference loss but Iowa may get the automatic bid, which is fvckin gayer than Elton John having sex with Boy George while Rod Stewart films it.

PSU will beat OSU but I think that OSU will beat Iowa....I'm calling it right now.

After losing to PSU, OSU will be unranked and then beat Iowa, taking Iowa down to #15-18 in the ranking while PSU moves to Top 10 since USC is getting owned and Iowa will be knocked out as well.

OSU vs Iowa is gonna be a hell of a game. Hell I'm still excited for Michigan vs OSU even though both teams pretty much lost it. IMO if Iowa doesn't drop a rank because of the way they are playing and actually make it to the BCS championship, there will be a riot. Oh yeah, Bama > FU.
