i'm a kentucky fan. grew up knowing nothing but blue. they started the season 2-0, and winning the governor's cup once again. the next two weeks will show their true colors though: Florida and Alabama, respectively. ohhhhhhhhhhh C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!

I am really surprised how well the Gophs did against Cal. Tied it up and held the tie through most of the 4th quarter. 2 dumb mistakes ruined it for us, but I was anticipating a blow out.

they seem like they're getting better, especially after last year's disappointment with rich's first year as coach. i'm really surprised they put the disruptions behind them too with rich's off the field problems.

IU got robbed of an opportunity to tie or beat michigan today. . .damn homer officiating called an interception on that call where both people had possession when they hit the ground. . .simultanious possession goes to the receiver, it's in the friggin' rule book. . .

I totally respect you a whole lot more now.

I'm a HUGE Alabama Crimson Tide fan. It's halftime now against the razorbacks and it's 14-0. Looking good for bama. I can't wait to play Auburn so we can beat them once again.

Like there was any question of as to who was going to win in an Alabama v. Arkansas game. Are you serious?

Re: 2009 college football thread

haha. penn state, ole miss, cal...all shameful games played. another good week for college ball. i was working today but i did get to watch the vt v. miami game. i'm watching the texas tech v. houston game it's pretty good too, another upset pending for a top 25.

oh i couldn't believe herbstreet either last week. he wanted to put miami as a top 5? i mean shit man, to go from no rank to top 5? no ****ing way. hell i don't think they should've jumped to number 9. glad they lost, but i still would've like to see vt lose.

Re: 2009 college football thread

once again i'm correct about Cal. . .when will they stop giving Cal top 10 rankings?. . .every year that team makes it to the top 10, they disappoint their fans, and give me a whole season of asking "why are they ranked again?". . .oh well, i guess i'll just continue asking that question this season because some jackasses are going to say that the oregon squad was way underrated and they only drop Cal by like 5 spots. . .

and let me be the first to nominate Urban Meyer for coach of the year. . .not only for making Tebow play beyond the 31-0 lead in the first quarter, but also for letting him even on the field in the 2nd half. . .i wonder how many times he's going to be asked "why was tebow still in the game" during the week off before the LSU game. . .

i wouldn't really call that an upset, and i don't think most college football fans would either if Texas Tech were to have won that game. . .Houston plays in Conference USA, not exactly a conference full of football powerhouses. . .i'll give Houston credit for knocking off Oklahoma State, but even the sun shines on a dog's ass some day. . .

well, Memphis is sucking it up this year, 1-3 record. lost to ole miss, middle tn state, and marshall. only team we won against is UT Martin (a team that a high school could probably beat)

and my alma mater, Samford Univ, is 2-2 this year

Looking forward to basketball season

What upset?

How about some respect for Houston. If your not UT, GT, OU or something it seems like no one cares how good you do.

Meh....the only team BSU has had to play this year was a preseason ranked Oregon, who is going to get spanked by USC in the near future.

Their schedule is about as hard as playing a mediocre high school team. They are nowhere near the Top 10 of the nation this season. Same with Cincy, TCU, and Virginia Tech(who lost finally, thankfully).

oh i know this is far from their toughest schedule. . .i'm kinda looking at it as a karma thing for going undefeated and beating ranked teams, and still not getting a BCS bid in years past. . .trust me, i have no delusions that this is boise st.'s best team or best year, but with them going undefeated again and notre dame getting a BCS game for winning 9 games, there is a chance that college football will finally take a serious look at the BCS. . .doubt they will, but it it's really the only shot at getting things looked into anytime soon. . .

Nothing will happen with the BCS simply because BSU could go undefeated. No one cares about them and they continue to have one of the bottom 1/2 hardest schedules there is, so eh.

Re: 2009 college football thread

according to some of the power rankings out there, there schedule isn't much easier than texas or penn state's strength of schedule ranking. . .but you're right about nothing happening, because the NCAA has spent years defending this system, and are not likely going to change it anytime soon. . .

The difference is that Texas actually plays quality opponents during the year, same with PSU....and they're big powerhouse teams. BSU....not so much.

And yeah, all of the powerhouse schools aren't going to be giving up BCS and it's moneys anytime soon. The little guys can cry all they want but it ain't happenin.

Re: 2009 college football thread

i know the BCS is never going to change, but damnit could the Big Ten do a championship game?!?

every other division does one, why not? Take the two best at the end of the season and spot them against each other.

would be even more interesting if it were two teams who didn't meet earlier in the season.
