Hacksaw, haha. Im not kidding btw.

Its only 1/8 inch wall so its not that bad. When i get to the 1/4 inch stuff there is no way im cutting it with a hacksaw.

Re: <>Time Consumption<>

Thanks guys! its a old miller 125v flux core. Dunno the model number. Does really good on tacks. I ad to retack some pieces together, and i coudl see i was getting good penitration.

But i still wana tig it myslef or have my uncle do it for me. The beads will look really good.

Geat, i know its gona take some extra time to do, but i wana have a really nice backhalf. The beads will look superb, im not gona even grind them down or put filler over them. My uncle builds racecar chassis and hes very good with the tig.

No pics guys sorry,

But tomorrow i am going to trade a 350 SBC that me and my dad had lying around for some 20's! ill get pics tomorrow if what i have got done over the past couple days.

I didnt have to grind anything on my truck. I just wish I would of been as good as with the tig as I am now when me and my dad bagged it. I would of welded the notch in

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...1019082102.jpg
That would of been a decent weld, but wasnt clean. i.e porosity in it. Example of why tig welding is a pain.

Re: <>Time Consumption<>

Sorry guys, i didn't make it out to the garage. I was gone most of the day. I met up with Kyle from Total Mayhem in Burton MI. We did a little exchange at BK...
Left home with this.....

Returned with...

Better pic Kyle sent me:

SOME 20'S!!! wrapped in 255/35/20 Falken tires. There a lil worn out, but if anything i can use them for mock-up.
I have the rear rails done on the frame as well. I only got a pic of one of them though. I swear i had taken one of them both done.

Also got some other stuff done but ill show ya tomorrow so it looks like i am actually making progress. haha!

Re: <>Time Consumption<>

I got 2 of the wheels poslished up today. They came out pretty good. Took about a half hour each with the powerball mini.
Comparison:

Pretty:

2 that i got done:

Had some studying to do tonight, so i didn't make it out into the garage. Hopefully tomrrow i can rush home from school and get a couple hours in. I wana finsih the rosebuds for the chassis and clean it up some of the rush that i found when i cut out some stuff. Also gotta make where my rearend goes and make the bodymounts before i can start cutting it up some.

well i hade seriously thought about doing that, But then i would have to really mess with the floor and stuff. Plus its my first one, so i don't wana get too ahead of myself. Also wanted to make the cab feel smaller on the inside. I raced a dragster for 6 years with a fully inclosed body, i really like being packed into what i am driving. I wish i could find a pic of me. I look liek i am srunched in the racecar, but i totally feel normal! haha.

But its more liek 95% Whe i show you guys the pics of where i am making the transition, your gona shoot me for not stockflooring it.

Polishmaster, i used powerball mini. If it was doing it by hand i would have had you do them.

modifying the floor? you dont have much to do.

This is my first stock floor and i jumped right in haha.

Might as well do it now and save yourself the trouble of redoing everything later.

well. i was thinking about it. But i really know a lot more about the traditional drops than the stockfloor. Maybe sometime in the future i could stockfloor it, but right now i just wana get it done. haha.

I was talking to may dad about it. He said that he didn't want me to get in over my head. Plus i really won't mind the headroom loss im only like 5' 8".

Re: <>Time Consumption<>

Got out to the garage for a couple tonight. Got the rosebuds doen as well as marking where the axle is gona sit.
This is where i am making the transition from old frame to new backhalf.

Rosebuds got finished also:

Here is another pic of the frame rails complete:

Now i am running out of room for parts!

Then the man in the brown truck came to my house!

Got some Endlinks and some tabs. Also got soem AVS gauges, i really liek them. And i got a AVS 5 gallon on sale, but it looks like it might have a hole in it right around where one fo the bungs is welded (ill have to put some pressure in it). Lastly i got a Slam specialties shirt.

Im gona try to get back out to the garage tomorrow and clean up the rust you could see in a couple of the pics. Also im gona lay down my lines of where im gona cut the frame. Maybe some other little things too.
I really wana cut the damn stock frame off this weekend. Just gotta weld a brace across where im gona cut so the frame doesn't spring apart on me, and then i am pretty set!

There a little Darker than the autometer gauges. But they shoudl look sick!

I like the gauge cause it actually is read-ble, i have seen a truck with Airlift gauges and they seem hard to read, even at a close distance.

I gotta go into wokr later so i won't be getting anything done on the truck, may polish up the last 2 wheels and play some xbox when i get home though.
