The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

I'm new to this forum but no where near new to the s-truck world. This will be my 13th build for an s-10. This one is going to combine to of my favorite builds together in one & hold some sentimental value. My very first truck was a 93 std cab short bed 2.8l 5 speed. And my favorite was my 88 version of the same truck but 4x4 all blacked out with bucket seats. I ended up putting a 5.7 into it with a set of edelbrock heads cam intake and then some. So this time around I'm doing a 2/2 drop 2wd with a tbi 5.7 and a 5 speed not gonna get to crazy with the first step just a stock tbi motor dressed nicely a chip and full exhaust and nice intake. It's going to be all blacked out interior with buckets black paint no crome anywhere and going with some extreme s10 wheels n tires. It's deff a rough start but here's my winter list to be done:
-wire wheel frame and paint it all
-get frame straightened
-remove 4" lowering kit install 2"
-all new shocks
-new steering/ball joints
-fix driver rust hole in floor
-new cab corners/rockers/fenders/cowl hood/bed arches/repair bed floor/new bed supports/new tailgate
-sell off both 2.8l engines and install 5.7 tbi
-find 4.3l s10 nv3500 2wd trans
-finish all body work and paint pitch black
-remove/redo window tint
-in dash navigation/cd/dvd
-then finally install nitrous kit & go spank my buddy's dakota 360 he built and show him why chevy is always a better truck lol

Re: The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

And this is how it sits now I have to 2/2 drop in all the shocks ball joints and steering in the front is sitting and 1-1/4 higher than the rear bc the new stock springs are 780lb instead of the 560ish stock 2.8 springs but i have 2" spindles on it. This should level off when the 350 goes in though. I will weld the floor in aswell dont worry i'm not that hillbilly but I'm not going for a show truck either. I'm just waiting to get it onto a hoist to weld it up.

Re: The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

Well I did get the vortec head swap done but didn't go with tbi. I went with and edelbrock 650 and a th350 2200 stall converter. I did however land a smoking deal on a 8.5" 2wd s10 axle im installing this week and getting it ready to go get and alignment and exhaust ran. I will be going efi come next winter just my $4000 budget build hit $7100 this winter. So the fast ez-efi kit I want will have to wait till next year. The tbi woulda been fine but we couldnt get a prom burned good enough to run with the cam and heads tbichips.com owner was helping me and told me with the tbi sytem's map sensor your limited to between 350-370hp and im pushing the 425-450 mark. But heres all the pics since my last post i did get all the steering suspension and drivetrain complete. The motor is broke in & will be changin out the valve springs to the stiffer ones before any hard driving will happen. Body work i did all myself turned out great and had my good friend spray it for me since he paints more than me didnt want to chance a bad turn out at this point. but here are some new pics from the past few months in the best chronilogical order i can remember.

Re: The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

Thanks guys I'm putting in my new axle hopefully this weekend i got a smoking deal on a s10 2wd 8.5" with a auburn in it. I just want to do the brakes and change the fluid in it before i tear the 7.5 outta the truck. Nest to come is i'm building a set of cal-tracs and getting 2 spare extreme wheels with some 28x10 M&H drag radials.

Had to add just a little something to break it up a bit.

I'm establishing that the satin black is gonna require a really good california duster to keep clean as well.

Re: The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

I've decided to run a single 3.5" exhaust ordered all my mandrel bends today and I'm modifying a thrush welded to flow match with my 3.5" pipe and hopefully be capable of accomplishing a zero loss single system. I'm starting to build my y-pipe tomorrow my tail pieces should be in hopefully next week then I just need to get my plates and go for a maiden voyage.

Nice work all but the riveted patch panels or what looked like riveted panels.

Re: The "Dark One" 93 2.8l to 5.7l TBI swap

I actually used the 3m panel bond adhesive that's what they taught me to use in my body classes. I only used rivets to hold in place until it cured then drilled the heads off & glass in the holes. The only spot that still has rivets is the floor pan but that's panel bonded , riveted & tack 1/4" welded in about 20 spots kinda over kill but figured its hidden under carpet so why not. But the panel bond is amazing stuff no worrying about warping patch panels I'd highly recomend it to anyone.

what seats are those and how did you mount them?
and what front springs did you buy to make up for the weight of the 350?
