The title describes the entire goal for my truck. Thats what I strive for. Anyway this is long over due. I bought the truck back in february of 08 for $900 and it was a pos that had been in Virginia most of it's life, wrecked in 3 places and poorly maintained. I drove it back and forth to high school like it was for the remainder of my senior year. Heres how I recieved it.

Soon after I graduated I got a 5.3 and 4l65e and did a swap and put the truck down in july 08 for the swap. it was originally a 4.3 5 speed. For more on the swap click on the link in my sig.

After the swap and rear end I needed some better tires so I bought some 09 ZR-1 reps and did a 5/5 drop. Heres the truck as it was after.

All those were taken before I tore it down for paint. More pics coming as soon as im back.lol

Right after I graduated from fire academy I decided it deserved to look as nice as it drives. My dad has a well know body shop and every tool known to man so id be crazy not to.lol My original plan was to repaint the truck with the factory 2 tone colors and just a shaved tailgate. buttt....I ended p doing a bit more shaving than originally planned...It's addictive.

wow, thanks for the positive feedback everyone. The hydroboost rom the same 05 yukon I pulled the engine from. It's baisically a direct bolt on. You just have to redrill the holes in the firewall. It's super easy. All these progress pics are pretty old. I've done alot since then but i've just been too lazy to take pics. Baisically it's gonna be the same color cuz I like the green with a different hue of silver for the lower color and old school chrome/50's theme, no black! Im shaving the antenna hole, washer nozzles, cab seams, gas lid finger notch 3rd brake light mirrors and tailgate and a compound curve roll pan ans 98+ chrome front bumper. The truck was pulverized with small dents because the last owners were wreckless ****heads so just getting it straight is most the work. It's going to be showcar work because thats what we do. I can't stand half ass bodywork

i like the progress, but imo i would have feathered out the paint more when you shaved filled the 3rd light.

Truck looks good I've been debating if my next big step is a 5.3 or bags. Around here if I have any engine lights it won't pass inspection so I need to be careful.

Haha that would be true....If it was paint. I epoxy all the bare metal to seal it first before I do any filler work. I just brushed that epoxy on. Im not doing any filling on the shaved areas till all the shaving is done.

oil pan on the 5.3 sits about 2" below the k member... idk maybe ls2 pan would be better for bagged / lowered

dont let paint toad see the filler on top of shiny paint haha

your brushed on epoxy is the same color green as your truck and is glossy??

maybe i am missing something. but in this pic

is that filler or just wet epoxy you brushed on? its tough to tell because of the gloss.

You can put filler over factory primer or basecoat as long as it's properly sanded. I wont put filler over bare metal. I know alot of people do but I know better because every car we get that some hack shop did always has rust trapped under the bondo when it's stripped.

Yes that is wet epoxy. The shit we use now is white. and no it's not over the shiny cler, I know better.lol I just brushed it right to the edge. Im gonna feather it all out with 180 on the orbital before I put any filler anyway.

Thanks all! Im trying to keep sort of a stockish feel to the interior. It just seems more pleasing to the eye. The previous owners smoked in it and it just smelled nasty and moldy so I threw out all the old carpet and bought a brand new OE one from gm and washed the shit out of the seats and and scrubbed the door panels and everything like crazy. It smells alot better. I got bored one day and put some plaid on and installed a matching blazer floor shift console. im ditching the jump seats and some other things to kinda keep the weight down. My main concern is weight savings so it won't be too accessorized.

He always wears a flannel... I saw an episode of American Chopper where they built this bike for My Name is Earl and upholstered the seat with one of of the actual flannels Jason Lee wore on the show. It is a bad ass idea dude I meant no insult.

Did some more work on the truck. It's taking so long because i've been battling warped sheetmetal. Between the roof, drivers door, and tailgate, I am getting so fed up with thin flat, warped metal.
I have the bed off so I decided to shave the lower cab seams, (why not?)lol Im at a stand still on the tailgate because I need my new rollpan from SD to match to the lower tailgate flare, and I can't afford it till the guy comes and buys my old NV3500 this weekend. (I hate being broke) so I started on the roof which is a floppy pile of shit.lol but its coming along nicely. The uni spotter stud/shrinker gun has been my best friend through this whole project so far.

And warped metal sucks i warped my first noma hood and it was no good had to pitch it and start over it seems like you have to use as much heat as a soldering iron gives off.

Thanks all, yea warped metal is a bitch. I only tack welded everything and blew it off with compressed air immediately till it was cool to the touch but it just insisted on warping.

My main concern is weight savings so it won't be too accessorized.
