Snafu's restore/bd/front bag/v8 progress thread!
Well I figure I might as well throw a few pics up here seein as nobody has reall seen what I've been up to the last few months. It started out as being a rusted out peice of garbage but I thought I would eventually redo the floorpans and I would be good to go. WRONG!
Then after months of the motor eating oil and knocking like crazy, the clutch solenoid pissing and my pants being soaked after driving in the rain/snow I got pissed off and did 5200rpm drifts, donuts, and burnouts until the clutch destroyed itself and the motor barely maintaining and idle. So basically it started out as floors, then realised I needed rockers and cab corners as well, motor was dying and I got a great deal on a built 305 as well, then figured while I have it down to a bare frame why the hell not bag and bodydrop it?? Keep in mind I was only SUPPOSED to spend $1500cdn when my parents agreed to let me do JUST the floors, rockers and cab corners.. they thought I was going to fix that shitty 4 banger. As of right now I sit at about $1900 in debt with the parents, I've spent about $3000 total and need about $1000 more. |

It's been hard learning almost everythign along the way... I've been working on cars since I was very young but never anything this extensive.. only had maybe 1/2 hrs worth of mig welding experience so I got a little Lincoln mig pak 10 and dove in:P
I'll post up a parts/mod list in a little bit if i get the energy lol |

Re: Snafu's restore/bd/front bag/v8 progress thread!
Alright... the parts list yay.
Floor pans rocker panels cab corners 1984 305 with decent cam torker 2 intake holley 650 double pumper th350 trans w/ 6" tailshaft Tubular Upper control arms w/ aluminum crossbar and greasable bushings ![]() 92 Cavalier z24 bucket seats 1 Type R 12" sub 1 R-Fosgate 900w amp all gaskets for the motor (i tore it down and replaced all the gaskets + valve seals to be sure even tho it only has about 20k since rebuild.. turns out the valve stem seals were dryed out) all new balljoints front bags, cups, b&m shifter thx to ILLblazer 1/2" valves from some dude in New York...? Can't remember who I bought them off. Thats all I can think of at the moment... remember I still have a decent amount left to buy and I most likely forgot some stuff. I'll add on as I remember/buy parts. Last edited by Snafu Pimp : 06-10-2005 at 04:40 PM. |

I'm hoping for only a 2-3" cowl at most or a nice chrome or billet scoop coming through a stock hood with those purty red butterflies! ![]() |

Re: Snafu's restore/bd/front bag/v8 progress thread!
I've got a buddy from work coming over tomorrow... as well as the girlfriend so I can't spend TOO much time with the truck. Plan is to get the interior cleaned up, ground down and undercoat the floor, if the body bushings arent here yet (stupid Summit 1-3 days my ass) we'll pull the cab back off and start shaving the firewall and replace the cab corners. I think I also might get the p. axle seal in as i tore the old one up and it leaked everywhere. Possibly sand the dash for the first layer of fiberglass but thats if time, and my girlfriend's patients permits.
And yes... there WILL be lots of pics. For now heres a few of the parts! 12 gal airtank from a local big rib shop.. 3/4" ports Brand ass new torker 2 intake, holley 650 dp carb and Accel dual point distributor The two motors I had to choose from And last but not least my control arms... Dirt cheap and strong! Last edited by Snafu Pimp : 08-20-2006 at 04:09 AM. |

Re: Snafu's restore/bd/front bag/v8 progress thread!
where did you get those control arms from?
also with the turbo350 you have the 6" tailshaft, did you have to do any driveshaft or rearend modification to make er fit? |

Re: Snafu's restore/bd/front bag/v8 progress thread!
Yes.. I blame MopedMan and 50 Below Customs for my control arms
![]() With the 6" tailshaft, motor in the full forward position, and stock 4 banger driveshaft, it looks like it will have to be lengthened about 1 1/2 - 2". These upper a-arms are NOT specifically meant to be on a lowered truck and therefor have to be shimmed in quite a bit. So far balljoint angle has been fine to lay on a 27" tire. Thats with stock lowers and 2" drop spindles. |

Floor is all purty lookin... even got the girlfriend scraping crud and washing the floors down for paint!
![]() I didn't get anything other than the floor done today.. exhausting day at work and the girlfriend is a little time consuming. Monday should be a good day. Last edited by Snafu Pimp : 06-12-2005 at 02:55 AM. |

I love my girlfriend but she IS very time consuming.
e.i. - Taking up a great deal of time. It's not like that time is badly spent? |

She said that wasn't her...but DID look at the thread this morning. I just talked to her on the phone. I have the habit of saying/typing things and them sounding alright in my head but when I take a second look I sound like an asshat. w/e
