Slammed mini 1 ton

Ill try to make the story kinda short and sweet on my 91 s10. I originally bought the truck to drive back and forth to work but that only lasted for 1 trip before the custom bug bit pretty hard. It went through several phases but it was bagged on 18s and was starting to look decent.

While at layed out at the park me and a buddy decided that my truck was kinda bland and needed something to stand out and a dually idea was thrown out at some point, I kinda liked the idea but knew I had to go at it in in kinda a big way.

So we started with the intentions of putting a small block in and a 1 ton rearend. so I dug up a sterling 10 1/4" out of a 87 f 350 and had Little shop of horrors narrow it down for me

Next Moser built me a set of custom axle shafts to fill it with and Bad habits customs built a parallel 4 link for it. But I had forgot about the front end and in the end no good choices could be made except having adaptors made.

Then as the build progressed a little at a time changes were made aafter talking with some folks at 8 Lug we decided the small block wouldnt cut it so I originally found a olds 350 diesel but soon after realized it would be a waste of time and effort to use it because of the inherit problems they have so I was on the search again when I found my Mercedes Benz OM 617 turbo diesel that we are working on now.

Since we were doing a motor swap anyhow I decided to tear it down and go ahead and boddy drop it also so right now its in the process of having a frame built for the sfbd. Ive been picking up parts since then but life did get in the way for a bit, my wife and I bought our house and built a new shop for me also we built her a bagged hearse but now the dually is getting worked on again slowly. Here is how it looked before we tore it back down for the body drop and a few parts Ive picked up, hopefully it wont be to long before I can start making more progress on it.

Can you get some clearance shots of the gap between the wheel and the rear frame.

Should turn out good.I'll be watching this.

Also can you throw up some pics of your wifes ride?

few questions... what is the weight of the motor and how do you plan on supporting it? as i have looked into the diesel swap only with a 4bt only they weight close to 745lb just curious on some ideas on how to handle the weight as mine is currently a 2.2

but rendering is sick id love for mine to look like that some day

I have a set of first gen dually fenders in the shed from way back when phantom duallys were cool. Swapped that one over to a drag truck and moved to tires inwards. Just can't do it to my 2 door unless I jack it up more than I want. Seen too many k5 duallys and they don't look right.

Truck looks awesome, great concept.

These fenders would look better I think than the fullsize looking ones.

These are off a gen one Dime and I can't seem to find anymore like them anywhere.

Re: Slammed mini 1 ton

Ya thought about building foam up off the fender in the shape you want then make the fenders out of fiberglass?

I been picking up scraps of foam to do that for baja style rear fenders on my blazer.

Yeah, I can see where the squared ones would flow better with the body. I'll keep watching this one.

Thats my back up plan lol I would really rahter have sheetmetal fenders but if it ends up being more than I can do then fiberglass will work

Im really hoping to have it at showfest this year but its still in the air at this point. But we have started stripping the cab finally and I got my juice setup in from Hoppos custom suspension works. Hopefully wont be long and I can show off some pics of the truck but for now here is the hydro setup Ill be running

Re: Slammed mini 1 ton

Such a unique idea ! Im digging the rendering but it needs dual stacks, and im not a fan of them at all. But do the duals for the symmetry of the truck

BACK ON THE ROAD - 00 S10 , vicorty red , 2.2 , envoy swap , all shaved except the gate , Bagged , 3 linked , 18's

SOLD - 04 Dodge 1500 QC , 5.7 , bright white , bagged , Z'd , 2-linked , 22's

I actually have a friend with a juiced regal and I loved riding in it and got to talking with some old school hydro guys on how to set it up for ride instead of hopping so I wanted to try my hand at it.

Thanks you know the funny part is a friend and myself were talking about dual stacks just yesterday so its a fairly good possiblity of that happening.

Re: Slammed mini 1 ton

I know this build has been on the extreme side of slow but its starting to pick up again. We have finished the frame, got they juice installed and most of the motor swap is done now. The hoses for the juice is still sloppy but they are temporary until I can get hardline.
