they seem to be pretty damn good for the price. look great, nice tread pattern, good grip and sidewall stiffness.

these are ns2 nankangs i think, the previous set of nankangs i had were ns1 and hit a pot hole and the tire blew out only weeks after i purchased the tire... im hoping that doesnt happen to these.

Yeah mine are the NSII's also. Cheapest tires I could find new all matching for the sizes I was looking for.

I had them on my last Ranger. No complaints. Seemed to grip well wet and dry, no issues with them for the ~5000 miles I put on them.

thank you!

updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what is this sheet of mdf in the back of my truck for?

the overall dimensions are 12 3/8" tall to sit just under the plastic trim, 23" wide to be the width of the passenger 40 seat, 9" deep at the bottom, 5" deep at the top. the back board of the box is extended so i can mount my amp on it.

test fit

jack bracket has to be removed obviously

i had a ton of lumberjack fabric that i purchased for my tdi that never ended up getting used... recycled the unused fabric for this project!

very hard to wrap this oblong shape, so the lumberjack goes a little askew on the amp backboard, but **** it it gets covered with the amp. the lumberjack on the actual box is pretty straight.

installed, flash/ no flash couldn't get a good picture because it was dark out about to thunderstorm

it's a pioneer 10", but i built the box large enough to re cut the hole to hold a 12" if i wanted to. the amp is a pioneer 1000w, 2ch, but i bridged the channels and with resistance calculated it sends 330w to the subwoofer, perfect for this sub.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

i am having an issue though with the charging system since the amp install, had to get my truck towed actually. i took it for it's first run with the amp in there, went a couple miles with the radio blasting, loving the sound, then noticed my battery light was on. checked the volts, it was about 10v. i pulled over, shut all the power accessories off that i could, and pulled the fuse to the amp so that wouldn't draw.

drove it around and the volts never went back up to 14v what it normally runs at... went to auto zone and they said that my battery was too weak to run their machine and test it.

had it towed to my house, i'll look at it a little harder tomorrow.

any ideas?

i also like the bass directly behind me as well, but at 6'1" in a reg cab it is very hard to fit a not shallow mount sub behind the driver's seat. in order to give the box the correct volume and the sub the mounting depth it needs, i put the sub behind the passenger.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Might have burnt up something in the alternator. You might look into jumping up the output on that alternator. An updating your charging system wont hurt (big3) w/ some 4 gauge

Maybe here but, that does not apply to playboy, penthouse, and similar spackle mags!

I'd do my normal checks.check for 12v+ at back of alt, pull the plug and check for meltage, make sure the belt is tight, then repair/replace as nessessary.you probably killed your alternator .if that's it I personally wouldn't go to the junkyard for an alternator tho.Ive got 3 for 2.2 in my garage, lol.

I would if I didn't tho I'm cheap!

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

LMAO!!!

spike im a ****ing noob!!! i dont know anything about that shit lol

i bonded the seams on the box with construction glue after that pic, as well as the nails haha

anyways... truck started today on my lunch break, took it down the street to a place that remans starters and alternators with a good reputation. i told the guy my story, he said it sounds like i smoked the alternator. he hooked up his diagnostic while the truck was running and told me right away that the alternator was the culprit, and that he could rebuild my original alternator for 60$. an afrozone reman is 125, so i figured i should let these guys rebuild my original unit for half the price.

pics from yesterday courtesy of 70welder aka baab who did a lot of the cutting of the mdf

me, dicking around with a dmm trying to diag the charge issue

i love this picture, that sky is nasty

pics from today

tear down to remove alt

something missing here

look how shitty that core support looks!

so i spray bombed it, rustoleum sucks my nuts but it was all i had

how she sits, awaiting the remanned factory alt

it's nice out today, i'd usually drive my truck... but i cant obv...

so i wanted to take out my bicycle

but my truck is dead blocking the entrance to the door of the garage, so it looks like i'm fusioning

haha i get my hair cut every friday, always looks like that. i'm 6'1", and i have never ever wanted to raise anything lol.

this is my second s10 at 5/6, i've had a tdi jetta on coilovers and vette wheels less than 2 inches off the ground, i've had a 3rd gen camaro lowered 2 inches, mk2 gti 16v on bilstien pss9 coilovers, what i'm getting at is i love lowering things!

i asked about that, and he said that if the alternator was rebuilt to factory specs that it'd work fine, and i agree. my last s10 had an unmodified stock alternator and had this identical sub and amp in it.

but the box i made for that truck was cheetah print

Not to sound off topic but your old truck that got totaled had an obx header with a dynomax super turbo muffler on it correct? Did that sound ricey at all? I'm just curious for plans for my truck.

I'm new to lowered,I even put standard springs in my ZQ8 truck for a while because I thought there was something wrong with them because it was so low I like it now but,I use to swear by lifted 4x4. I prefer the look and handling of ZQ8 trucks now and returned it to stock ZQ8 some time ago.funny how this forum has effected me,lol.

the truck that got totaled was a white regular cab short bed s10 with a 4.3 with no cat to a flowmaster that i thought sounded great.

you may be referring to the white regular cab short bed s10 that i sold that i didn't crash, that was a 2.2 with an obx header, stock cat, dynomax super turbo muffler. wasnt' ricey at all. wasn't loud either. the header was a good improvement in power. the turbo style muffler is a quieter performance muffler.

haha thanks man. i really have no clue how to build shit out of wood/ mdf. i also dont have shit for tools. i was also using a scrap sheet of 1/2" that was just sitting in my garage. if presented with the tools, i would have def cut the angles. if i had known to pre drill the holes, i would have. i'm a N00b! lol thanks for the compliment though.

forgot to mention what happened with the alternator... last night i dropped it off to be rebuilt right before the place closed at 5 pm. today at 8:47 am they called me and said it was ready. i had it back at the house for 9 am, said **** it yolo installed the bitch took a shower and drove it blasting some old school DMX for 10:30 am.

everything is all reinstalled and back in working order. the old lady that owns the insurance agency i am working at today called my truck a cutie and said it was beautiful lol. i like it when some one like an old lady, has no idea the kind of work and money that goes into my truck, just notices that it looks different and looks good is pretty gratifying.

thanks man, no roll pan for me. i have had a roll pan on a couple s10s because that's the norm on mini trucks, it does look cleaner, but i drag my rear bumper on a lot of driveways. the high strength thick bumper can take a beating underneath, but a roll pan cant.

i also like that fact that my truck looks for the most part looks like a stock truck, just slammed. i dont like xtremes or anything fancy like that
