Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Took the bed off today, spent 11 hours perfecting this 15 year old bedside

Before

Tool box holes, high spots as well

Welded up the holes, and smoothed and filled every ding, chip, and low spot.

I'm not familiar with his bumper set up but my favorite bumper for a 2nd gen s10 is 98+ hitchless

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

u dont like the flush look of a roll pan? i think it makes it a cleaner look, flush with tailgate i also had my handle relocated inside, so that made a big difference for a flush/shaved/clean look...

im not saying to do ur truck my way thou... im just saying that how i did mine, but u did mention that u dont like roll pan...i think

I've seen a few people cut down the factory bumper so that its thinner and fits closer to the truck, more of a flush look.

Two words: Ranger bumper. Near perfect fit, and sticks out a couple inches less than a stock 98+ bumper.

On second thought, screw that. Don't want anyone copying me!

Oh, I've seen that done before, he isn't the first.

That shaved bumper isn't really my style, nothing on this truck is being shaved (except partially the engine bay)

I dislike roll pans, as previously stated, I'm also too low for a roll pan.

Curious on your technique for fixing dents in the bed rails? I have very slight dents/dings along the top.

Since you can't get a hammer and dolly up into that area, are you using a stud gun and slide hammer?

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Lol sorry, allow me to clarify.

Most 98+ rear step bumpers around here have a hitch ball on them, or a hole in the step pad where you can install a ball hitch. The bumper I have has the flat step pad with no hole.

Fixed all the dings and dents in the cab/roof, and right door. Body work is complete for the most part, next updates will be primer! Still disassembling at the moment, almost done.

Nope, I used to tho. I went to a technical college for auto body and after that I worked in body shops for a couple years. While working in a shop I scored a job as an insurance appraiser, I've been an appraiser with Allstate for a little over 3 years... So nowadays I usually don't get my hands dirty but I'm still in the industry and am in body shops every day lol

All the pics you see of my truck being worked on in a body shop are at my buddy's shop, I have a key to the joint and he is letting me work on it there as long as I stay out of the way.

I have a feeling that the cab will flex too much to shave the seems anyway, especially with how low it is.

Gutted and scuffed both doors, blocked and reprimed the passenger side door as well. When I'm done, you won't be able to tell this truck has been resprayed. They'll be no tape lines and no surface left original paint.

I'm assuming its the same color you painted the calipers? Unless you were only matching that to the original color. All I remember was seeing you post the calipers and some other goodies painted, wasn't sure that was the new color though.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

You're right, I am painting it the same color as the calipers, but with a twist. I painted the calipers mazda 32v copper red mica acrylic enamel. My truck will be painted a modified 32v, we are adding a few ingredients to the code so it'll have a more intense flop, I'll be the only one rocking this color. I'm gonna re do the calipers to match the modified code.

My truck is going to be painted with PPG enviro base waterborne, hopefully they make a product that is high heat so I can match the calipers.
