I had a falken 512/912 combo on my tdi and loved them, I've heard good things about these 612s which are apparently an updated version of those earlier models I had.

I usually buy nankang tires, cheap as f˙ck, they did the job just fine on the boss wheels.

How do these tires suck?

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

i thought you were goin with a smaller tire for some reason.i ran 235/40/17 on 9 inch wide wheels.it had almost no stretch at all.looked just right to me.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Pic of 235/45/17 on 9" rim:

Looks just about flush. 9" rim is 228mm wide so a 235 tire should make it stretchless.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

I don't care about 235 on a 9", I'm running 225 on a 8", thanks for all the info tho? Lol

I had a 235 on an 8" on the front of my boss wheels, very slight bulge, tires looked good but on these 8 inchers I wanted less bulge. 225 mm is 8.86", so 0.43" of bulge on each side, probably gonna be invisible once the tire is mounted etc.

I could have went 215 but I didn't want any stretch at all, and I also don't want my tire's overall diameter too small and have it look funky, so I chose 225/45/17

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Spent about 6 hours today in the body shop making these fenders perfect.

I used a resistance welder to mate the trailer fender to the fender. The advantage of using a resistance welder is that it creates an oem spec spot weld without any pre drilling or post weld body work necessary. Here are some random pics of the process. The left trailer fender is 2 pieces, I migged the joint between the two pieces and body worked the seam so it looks like 1 piece. Also to fit the trailer fenders if you scroll back you'll see I had to pie cut the sides to open the trailer fender up to fit the fender... I migged those gaps and body worked them as well. The trailer fender is not a semi circle anymore, it's opened up quite a bit so I body worked the transition to make it appear flat where I spread the trailer fender in the pie cut area. I also body worked the little dings from shipping, and ground down the edge where I cut the outer lip off the fender.

The fenders are all ready for primer and blocking!

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

Tim (ihavenopantson) stopped by and I sold him the vinyl wrapped Sonoma hood, and we made a junkyard run for nothing specific.

I scooped up this caremel brown metallic rust free dent free tail gate for $73, and he grabbed this ranger bumper for his truck.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

I couldn't put the fronts on because I haven't done the blazer brakes yet... But...

after mounting and balancing the wheels today I found out that one of my wheel centers is bent. I've already sourced a replacement center and i will need to paint it to match the rest of the set.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

The amp wiring kit that is in my truck had had a hell of a history.

My 86 Camaro, 97 Sonoma, 03 Jetta tdi, 96 s10, and now it is in this 99 s10 of mine.

The in line fuse under the hood is a little charred up on the contacts and occasionally the fuse will rattle loose.

I scooped up some 4 awg power wire at the junkyard last weekend and it had no in line fuse, so I picked up this bad boy from Walmart.

Scoche wiring kits and accessories are ao affordable, and they last. My amp wiring is from 2008!

Sanded the runs out lightly with 150, went over it multiple times with 320, nearly ready for paint at this point. Needs a good scrub with a red pad.

Re: >>SLAB: Slow Low And Bangin

I'm loving this $78 tail gate, what a find! No dings, no rust, oem.

Detrimmed for paint

Driver's door ready for primer. Only thing that sucks about this door is it has been painted a few times... Took a ding out by the handle and feathered some chips out

Fenders got some more love, ready for primer as well

Stay tuned

The abs will be deleted with all new lines and proportioning valve installed over the next couple days, along with the blazer brakes spindles etc. Once that is all on, I'll test fit the wheels on 1 side, maybe I'll share a pic.
