Re: S10wannabee's truck project

grinder is fired up, and ready to go

as far as the minitruck scene, i would like to say, its very very minimal.

there are plenty of blazers and S10's, but i've seen only 1 S10 that had been static dropped, not 1 bagged so far.., there are some customcars around that ride around on bags, my brother has a very nice 1955 F100, thats on Shockwave's , very clean truck.

another friend of mine has a dual cab Dodge ram 1500 4x4 with only the front bagged so far, he's getting kicked by everyone to do the rear..

and another friend of mine has a '63 Mercury Commuter that is going to be bagged as well, he is gathering parts for it..

here's my brothers F100

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

time to start cuttin'

this used to be on the car somewhere...

front wheels/tires

this is what we got when we modified the spring cup a bit.

and some more grinding to the point were i can't get any more lowering, the arms have room to drop, but the upper balljoint is at its end

its about 2-2,5" away from the ground , i think i will leave at this, maybe in the future i will buy some control arms, so i can lay it out..for now this will have to do..

left side of the frame, prolly needs some more cutting, but i will wait until i get the cups from SD

the other side

here the blowerbox, i will put in some aluminium sheet, the tire is just hitting it.

my father modifying and welding the left fender on the inside.

its great to have such a help!

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

thanks man,

wheels are indeed from AC-Schnitzer, a company which only makes parts for BMW's, these are 19x8,5..

i got them for, Hold on... 350$ for all 4, only 1 was used for whatever reason... , lucky me..

and the mirrors are from a 89-97 Ford thunderbird, had to modify them a little bit, but they fit!

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

no they didn't had tires on them, that would be the best deal ever!!

the shop where i bought these, they buy 1 big shipment of rims once in every few months, the rims come from, manufactures, dealers, other shops, , most of them were used for shows, displays and such, so their basicly brandnew..

and i also have some more good news,
1st box from SD came in

and we got some more work done.
modified inner fender.

cleaned and primered spindle's

and old junk that's come off the truck

new front rotors and calipers are going on as well

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

update,

got all the other parts in as well. so we took the old x-member out and started to build the 4-link, after putting in the x-member and the upper links, we hooked up the axle and measured everything, nothing needed adjusting..

it puts the axle right were it needs to be..

and hopefully within a few days or like 2 weeks or so, i will have some brackets made, then i can make this 4-link into a 6-link, still have to weld the lower links to the axle, but i forgot my angle finder

and continu-ed working on the front, maybe i will cut some moe out of the pocket, not sure yet, some more at the rear of the pocket,

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

here's another update..

front frame is almost done, only the relocating kit for the shocks needs to be welded to the frame and the notch for the tierod has to be done, new shocks are on their way,..

i can get a finger around the bag all around , so that's good i guess.

welded the lower tabs to the axle for the 4-link

and added some metal just behind the notch. where originally the frame gets smaller. we added a piece so it remains the same.

and the notch's are in...

more soon..

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

@Wildman, i sure hope so..

some more update's..

left front side being put together again..

and while trying to fit the fender, we figured out it would be somewhat easier with the front bumper off, so bumper back off and the fender on..

fitted a wheel,

and we put the rearaxle back in, this is for testfitting for the gastank

it might fit without modifing the tank,.. don't know yet, now we have to wait on all the brackets for the lift bars, then i know what will be the highest lift will be, and if we have to modify the tank or not..

both wheels on..

and the gauge-panel is ripped out, i will put in LEDS in the panel, also in the gauge's for the airsuspension and the hvac-control panel..

more soon,..

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

yes, but i will make the links myself.

a buddy of mine has acces to a lasercutter, he will make all of the brackets for it..

i had ordered under and behind the axle brackets, but after a while , (and after reading on it here), i decided i would go with a 6-link configuration, but then i already placed the order for the brackets, , if i would have to do it over again, i would just order a 5-link kit.

it gives more lift and better drive charactaristics, from what i have read..

Re: S10wannabee's truck project

thanks,. good news, just got word that all of my bracket are ready for me, so i can make my remaining 2 links, and the bracket for the York. if my buddy has my bushing made from the lathe, those i need also, but im hoping for them also this week.

so i got started and the LED-conversion for the gauge's

here it is.

the airgauge's from AVS, the middle one hasn't got a LED in it so you can see the difference

all 3 done

HVAC panel

and the gauge panel itself

i don't have a picture with the pointers in, they faded over the years and i painted them. so they are drying..

thanks for the comments!

got some picture's for you guys.

made the edc-bracket

this is were it sits now

at first i had it lower, but the uca would interfere with the york in that way, so i placed it more upward by a piece of metal inbetween my original brackets.

i dont have a picture of the complete thing,.. will make some

some of the welds
