S cursion
I have aquired a 99, LS 4 door Blazer. She has some minor issues, but hopefully will be a sweet family trail rig and DD. She has a bad tranny, needs door pins, and probably some tweakin. My ultimate goal is to do a SAS with Toyota axles that I happen to have and they are really built. I also have a Marlin Crawler dual ultimate t case setup with 4.7, and 2.28 gears, I also have the Advanced adapters, adapter to mate the Toy cases to the 4L60E. I know this isnt the ultimate swap, but I happen to have these and they are the most expensive parts of the build. My Toy axles consist of 85 front trussed top, and bottom, shaved bottom, shaved drain plug, 4:88 V6 third with ARB airlocker, ARP studs throughout, diff guard, welded solid steering stops, SKY widening kit, IFS calipers, V6 vented rotors, IFS hubs, and spindle, heat treated hub gears, Longfield 300M shafts, 58" WMS/WMS. Rear axle is a 95 IFS, trussed both sides top, diff guard, shaved drain plug, Front Range Off Road FF alloy axle kit, IFS hubs, and spindles, ARP studs throughout, 4:88 V6 spool, V6 vented rotors, and calipers, heat treated, and frozen hub gears. I think thats it? Marlin Crawler dual ultimate t cases with 4.7, 2.28 gears, billet rotated adapter, dual 23 spline, 30 spline output, tripple drilled flanges. I believe this would be a really sweet set up for a daily driven trail rig. Tire size will depend on the final drive ratio. I do not want to go too big. And full width axles are out because I need to try to keep it street legal. More to come. Thanks Jim

Re: S cursion
Some of my wish list: lift kit, axles, t case, wheels, tires, HID's, LED's throughout, spare tire carrier, tranny cooler, Amsoil, vent visors, bug shield, cowl hood, custom bumpers, slidders, tranny rebuild, roof rack. This is an awesome site, and I have gotten some great idea's from here. I'd love to find someone who has done the Toy axle swap to see the pro's and con's of the swap. I am not looking to run huge tires, but I am not a big fan of IFS. Thanks Jim

Re: S cursion
I decided to change the oil, and swith to Amsoil and filter, change the fuel filter, instal a K&N air filter, add a quart of tranny fluid, (seemed low, has no reverse) still no reverse. Found out the 31" LTB's I have on Pro Comp Rock Crawler wheels do NOT fit the Blazer. That sucks, seem's the Tracker has Ford bolt pattern. I thought I could throw these on until I could go SAS.

Re: S cursion
I am thinking about one of these hoods. http://www.cincyramairhoods.com/chev...lazerhood.html
I love the Cowl Induction hoods, but this one is funtional with the optional airbox. Not much use for off road , but cold air still good for performance. I'd really like a snorkle but cant seem to find one. I saw a thread on ZR2 about a retrofit, but since I am not a paying member or a ZR2 owner I cannot view the pics. I did find out that the rear axle has a WMS/WMS width of 59" which is the same as my Toy axle. I am not sure if that is a good thing or not yet? Jim |

Re: S cursion
This may not be for this build, but I do have these axles that need built. 2 1/2 ton Rockwells with alot of goodies. The housing is shaved, I am not sure what the stock axle size is, but they are 16 spline. I have new 2", 47 spline, gun drilled axles from Ouverson eng. Ouverson's 47 spline Ultra locker, Ouverson's billet U joints, Ouverson's Rockwell girdle, and pinion brake, plus rebuild parts. I would love to do 2 S10's...LOL Jim

Re: S cursion
Well, I went scrounging around some junkyards this weekend. I scored a tubular hitch, replacement tranny (Mine doesn't have reverse), steering column from a floor shift Jimmy, rear mounted swing away tire carrier. Baby steps, but a start. I Removed bumper for hitch instal, Removed spare tire, and mount. Cleaned everything up and painted it. Got the hitch on, and tranny ready to go. One bummer is I found out the adapter's needed for this tranny to fit my dual Toyota cases will cost around $900...OUCH Jim

Re: S cursion
Before the rain comes. I decided to do some test fitting if you will. This is about what I would like to see. I only jacked up the Blazer and rolled the wheels, and tires into place. The bolt pattern is diferent and doesn't sit flush with the wheel mounting surface. So the tires will not sit out as wide as in the pics. Tires are 35 x 14.50 20 on Trail Ready 20 x 10 Beadlock's. I don't have a crap load of $$$ I have been aquiring all this crap over the years, doing different builds. Jim

Re: S cursion
The tires wont stick out quite that far. The wheels are not on the studs at all. Just sitting outside of them. No it wont be legal here with them out like that. Though I do see it from time to time with low riders and the sort...LOL Thanks Jim

Re: S cursion
Well I got a Deuce and a half and things just stopped...lol. I am now jumping into this with both feet and have a question. I have the SKY crossmember and the Rancho 44044 springs. I have NO body lift and will run my 35" IROK's. I guess I will have to run SPOA to clear the 35's? I have the Toy axle in the rear of the Blazer and the stock springs are not going to work at all, even sprung over. What are guys running in the rear to match the Rancho Wagoneer fronts spring over? I don't have a comp. and looking all this up on my phone is taking hours, plus the small screen is about driving me nuts. Thanks, Jim

Re: S cursion
This is what I have so far. Sorry for the lack of pics. My computer is screwing up so most of this is from my phone and I cannot post pics from my phone. The Toy axles are uner. The rear needs some serious spring help. I have the ass end on a jack stand to level it out. The SKY xmember is welded in place waiting on the springs to settle some. I doubt just setting there is going to do much. Jim

Re: S cursion
The Blazer is SOA both ends. Anyone have any ideas the possibilities fir the rear springs? I'd rather not do lift blocks if I can help it. I'm guessing I need like 6" of lift for the rear? I need to put the Astro van box in, replace the steering column to loose the shifter on it. Hopefully be able to order the T case adapters soon. Jim

Re: S cursion
Sweet project man
You can definitely do SPOA in the rear to gain a few extra inches of lift. Just a heads up, you don't need to change out the whole column to convert to floor shift, just the plastic covers near the wheel. There's a thread or two on here about how to do the coversion |
