Re: Ratted Dime
Well I wouldn't call Big Daddy's style a rat rod. Personally, I don't try to give everything a name. There are so many styles. But to me, a flat black truck thats been cleaned up and dropped, would be a hot rod. Its a general term, but it fits, and everyone understands it. To me a rat rod is just something thats thrown together, and it has now become a general style. With skulls on every surface, and spades all over, covered in brass knuckles. Its really over the top custom, thats meant to look beat up and rusty. Basically stupid shit welded on everywhere. I wouldn't call either of your trucks rat rods, just hot rods, because they are just clean and simple. Forgive me if I came off as an ass, I just really hate that term. Growing up in a traditional hot rod world has driven it into me. If you want further explanation, go to The HAMB, and ask what a rat rod is. |

Re: Ratted Dime
Basically all I'm saying is a rat is on overdone, tacky car with way too much crap on it. Hot rods are about being clean and simple, IMO.
Also, I know a guy selling those seats you wanted, last picture of the aluminum ones, for $140 for the pair. |

Re: Ratted Dime
hot rods to me are cars with nothing but the bare essentials for going fast and looking cool. Rat rod is an overused, uneducated term IMO

Re: Ratted Dime
why post in sombodys thread if your going to be negative....ive been around jody for awhile and i will tell you now nothing is hacked, and any and every idea he has is against the "norm" that way it will stand out so if he wants to call it a rat rod keep your negative opinions to yourself....not trying to point any fingers just saying, that kind of additude toward sombody pisses me off
Let me know if you need any help man ill try to get that hood for you soon. |

Re: Ratted Dime
look guys i'm didn't start this thread to create static. i fig. since i have some different and new ideas to bring to the form i thought some body might benefit from it. if you think what im doing is cool then thanks if not then thats ok with me to. I don't care to have debates and all that kind of junk. My goal with this dime is to do things that i haven't seen done to a dime. So please keep the negativity to your self, OK.
Thanks snow for the back up. |

Re: Ratted Dime
Please dont let them discourage you from updating this thread i already like where your going with this, the seats alone are so different and innovative i dont know if i would have thought of that and I would love to see what else you have in store.

I will not get a chance to work on it hardly at all this weekend I'm headed to a show all day long on Saturday. Sunday got church so there might be a little time after church that i can work on it. who knows. But one thing for sure is that any all process that is done will be posted. thanks for the support!!! Re: Ratted Dime
Talked to him today and he said tommorrow the only thing he really has to do is finish wiring up a few odds and ends and then the only big problem is going to find the nearest gas station for that beast of a motor

Re: Ratted Dime
it doesnt look hacked at all. rat rod is the wrong choice of words for this truck though, because "rat rods" are hacked. the term "traditional hot rod" fits alot better, even though its not a hot rod, that still is the style of the truck.
btw truck looks pretty sweet, definitely will stay on top of this thread |

Re: Ratted Dime
i dont think all rat rods are hacked. some of them are. but the ones that are actually done right are awesome.

Re: Ratted Dime
Sorry for no updates lately, my world has been up in the air a little.
ok, i finished installing the camaro shifter. i took a little bit of work and tweaking but it's done and it works as well. got the upper rad. hose put on. it took a little work as well. i didn't want to go with the basic universal type rad hose. so i spent 30 min or so at o'reilly's in the back going thru all the hoses to find one that fits the profile, i did the same with the bottom rad. hose. hooked up the mane wires to the motor. haven hooked up and installed the elect. fan wires yet,but i'll have that done before the weekend gets here. got the rear shocks put in as well. i haveing took and or uploaded any pics to post, but i'll get that done tonight. Re: Ratted Dime
well after 33 days in the sun, rain and all other elements from the outside the hood idea might work out just fine.
The dark spots are where i didn't get all the paint off. This is just a experiment hood. The good hood witch has no imperfections is coming from a good and loyal friend Snow (aka slammed chevy) ![]() close up ![]() this area was done at the same time and has not been coated with anything. ![]() Last edited by 2THPIC : 06-16-2008 at 03:23 PM. |
