Re: Project TTTYPHOON

I really like how you did the motor mounts.

Does that set it up higher than stock? I'm contemplating redoing the mounts in my LSx swap too due to the 4L80E mounting issues.

Kinda hard to see, but this is with the mock up 5.3 in there. It sits about an inch higher then stock (maybe a tick less) but the is still enough clearance to slide under the factory tunnel. We can actually run a truck pan on here without issues but that is with the halfton front diff. But with a setup like yours you could adjust them to fit with the h3 pan.

Re: Project TTTYPHOON

Yeah I already have the H3 pan sitting in the garange. I'm currently running a custom sheetmetal pan, but I like the idea of going with a stock pan. I am waiting on buying the adapter plate for mating my 4L80E to my AWD transfer case, so I'll have to see if I can put the motor up that far and still clear the trans tunnel. I took a sledge to the tunnel already and bent the lip back. Until I have the full setup in the truck, I don't want to commit one way or the other. The motor mounts I have are *supposed* to work, but so was the oilpan, which I've had to modify myself to fit onto the motor. I like the idea though if I can raise the motor a bit and fit the H3 pan under there. When I tried to fit it before, it was VERY close, and raising the motor even an inch would have let it clear the stock diff up front.

Nice project. I'm only running a single turbo on my setup, but nice to see another "upgrading" their Typhoon.

Re: Project TTTYPHOON

You had to modify the turbo time pan? But yeah once you pick up those parts should be interesting to see what it take. And thanks your truck seems to be moving nicely along again.

And circa we are now building the motor just finalizing the details but it will be a 6.0 based motor

Yeah, I had to elongate a few holes, drill one, as it was missing, and take off some of the inner lip because the oil pickup was hitting it. Kinda frustrating when you spend over $500 for something and have to take a grinder to it.

So what bushing setup did you use for the motor mounts?? Looks like an A-arm bushing or something.

Wow that is surprising to hear about the pan. The bushings are off a halfton silverado and are leaf spring bushings if I remember right. They are 2 halves with a center sleeve. I think Ace might remember it has been a year since I ordered them. I got them from reflex.com or something like that and they are a prothane bushing.

Cory-Nope I do not have my wheels, they have my money the wheels are done but they are not sending them to me. I switch back with mike and now have the black zr1's on it with the worn out slicks(due to mikes crappy alignment.)

Minitrucker- thanks appreciate it truck should start picking back up again. still lots of work to do though.
