Re: Project: Suicidal

got the rear-end torn down again..

heres all my parts from suicidedoors.com and the shiny bolts cost me 15bucks from the hardware store..

and heres the problem so far im trying to get figured out, the links are way to short and wont come close to the axel.. u can see the bracket on the axel to held up by a magnet and thats still not even close..

Re: Project: Suicidal

yeah move front perch up and those brackets do not get welded like that, they are going to be pointed down to the ground and angled a liitle towards the rear of the truck. i would also remove the stock mount piece on the axle so you can weld the inside of the link bracket fully on the inside.

No idea dude. All i know is u gotta start at whatever you want, like 400grit, and get finer and finer, till like 2000. then u can use rubing compounds and polishing compounds.

In school i went all the way to like 3000 then i polished. (It looked chrome)

I have no idea whats the best way to do it....

Re: Project: Suicidal

Sweet build, just went through all 6 pages, main concern was I am looking for info on the tilt box. Got lots of ideas from you and some good pointers. I 'll keep you up to date when I start mine. I was hoping you would start the tailgate mod too as I was thinking of doing that and wanted to see how others were doing it. I was thinking to raise mine I might go with electric lift like a screw jack or hydraulic like a dumptruck, just going sideways.

Re: Project: Suicidal

this is what i started out doing tonight.. pulled the un-safe brake line off..

then to this.. need to clean them up and respray them..

just a pic of the front bags/cups..

then the spindals came off.. gonna spray them black, i should have done it when they were already off and apart..

heres the results of a blown breakline and fluid shooting all over, yes i already replaced that sides line..

gonna re-spray this to since brake fluid got on here to..

and i've never had this off before, so the brakeline bolts were a bitch to loosen..

and heres my current debate, i dunno if i should spray the engine bay black..

Re: Project: Suicidal

That really depends on what color you're going to paint the rest of the vehicle. Black engine bay sort of goes with everything though. Lookin good so far.

got the upper controls arms painted, one arm was smooth while the other was a rough texture so i got rid of that.. there both smooth now.. also painted the calipers.. and u can see how bad the break fluid messed things up..

Re: Project: Suicidal

so yesturday on the way home.. took a backroad that wasnt plowed yet, "it snowed 2 days ago only a few inchs" took a left, started sliding and thought it straighted out but ended up sliding down the hill into a telephone pole.. unlike my moms blazer extreme, i can fix this for cheap haha.. i already picked up a hood for it..

Re: Project: Suicidal

so heres the frame.. pretty bad, i did what i could to try and straighten it..

also did what i could with the bumper, i straighted it out somewhat but still needs ALOT of work.. ill jsut fix it when spring rolls around and its warmer out.. and the radiator support is worse then i thought, it even through the fender out of alignment..

and heres the new hood.. it was the one that orignaly came with the truck but i didnt want it, and neither did my friend that had the truck before me so he left the stock one on.. well lucky i got it cause his dad was planning on throwing it away this week.. not bad though..

im just trying to look at this in a good way.. cause i've kinda been thinking about acaully fixing this truck up to.. and i guess wrecking it kinda got me motivated to do so.. so we'll see what happens with it when next season rolls around..
