Project: Suicidal

well since everything got deleted im not gonna post everything back up picture wise.. but if anyone wants to see them i will.. but im pretty much gonna start where i left off on here, as far as plans go.. tilt bed, suicide doors, suicide tailgate, tailight shavers, become rust-free.. and so on..
well heres a pic from about a week ago with the nice rusty bed..

Also have the truck almost stripped down for wirebrushing.. its takin a long time..

Then the airbag bracket for the tilt bed is made, just gotta clean it up..

Got the headlight things hooked up..

After searching for a good 2 weeks i finnaly found a company that makes the bed brackets for underneath.. not to bad on price, replacment panel-30$, the bed supports for 2 of them-60.. and then the big peice in the back, idk what its called cost a good 110$.. there called browns, i can get the site if anyone needs it..

Re: Project: Suicidal

as for the headlights, i bought them off ebay, i think they were 40 all tog and there the conversion lights which instead of replacing the whole light when it goes out, u can just replace the bulb but the bulbs cost around 50$ all tog....
the suspention im wirebrushing the whole thing down and painting it and the bag i will be using is a re-8

Re: Project: Suicidal

everything was going to good lol.. i welded the bracket on the bed for the bag and realized im running into some clearance issues.. theres not enough space to make a bracked unless i make it from the inside of the frame for the bag to rest on.. then also if i do that then the exaust more then likely wont clear or it will be so close the heat will cause a hole.. any suggestions?

do you have anything to keep the bed from moving when going over bumps?

Re: Project: Suicidal

i have rubber pieces im gonna install on the drivers side that should keep it in good place and no rattles... i will also probly drill a hole throught he drivers side brackets and through the bed support brackets so i can stick some kinda pin through so when i go on the long trips it wont be bouncing all over

Re: Project: Suicidal

Pretty cool.

Cleaning the rust off the frame will help with your welds next time. Those look like they could be knocked off with a hammer.

*CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM*

Cut off the...or break off rather, the bag bracket and try again, it will break soon!

Re: Project: Suicidal

lookin good so far. I like the idea but I agree, def. make sure all your welds are extra strong. You don't want this breaking off. Especially if it's up and someone has their head under it..

Re: Project: Suicidal

I would gusset the top side of this bracket to the frame also. The position of your bag is cantilevering a lot of weight with retrospect to that bracket.

Re: Project: Suicidal

so ur gonna stucture up the bed a bit more so that it wont flex and get and even lift. i think another bag would be a waste of money. either that or center the bag under the bed. but looks good so far. glad u are willing to redo it and not just leave it when u arent happy with it.

Come to think about it. Where is your exhaust? Gotta think that the exhaust runs real close to there. Might need to make your self a small heat shield for the bag. Heat might not be too big a issue when driving but radiant heat while idling for a while or in city traffic and BOOM, that bag is gonna shred or blister.

that was one of my concerns when doing this.. im just gotta take the cat. out and put the muffler in its place.. the cat. is old and is starting to rattle anyways

the problem with the bag in the middle is the suspention will hit it considering the drop i have, and then also how low i got to mount it on the frame to have the bed level, it just wouldnt clear.. my weldering teaching whos helpin me out greatly in this is bring some heavy duty struts maybe today and were hopin it will even the bed out when it lifts..

Re: Project: Suicidal

sounds good, i have all my parts for my tilt bed sitting in my garage, havent done a thing yet. i have some pneumatic cylinders for it. just working on a locking mechanism something like the bear claw latches on shaved doors i was thinking about grabs the bed and pulls it in a lil tighter.
