Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

The wheels don't excite me too much, but if they're light-weight 17's they'd probably be worth it. Then the ZQ8s could go on the blazer.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

What do yall think about these:

Deep Dish C6 Z06 wheels
17x9.5, 18x10.5

They have them in Chrome, black, and gunmetal

...i think the chrome would look best imo.

they also have deep dish Y2K's

ouch man...that hurts...

screw you guys...i'm going home.

i've actually changed my mind...not a surprise i know. haha

I still like the SLP 3rd gen ZR1 wheels (17x8 all the way around) $600 for a set of 4.

But i also recently found where they make deep dish ZR1 wheels, in silver.
(17x9.5 - 17x11) $400 + spacers

drop leafs are installed, shocks i ordered are on backorder, so i still have the air shocks on. even with the wrong shocks the truck rides much better and seems help plant the rear during turning.

yeah, no spacers needed.

they are $600 from SLP and this month they have free shipping which saved me about $100 in shipping.

A good friend of mine that works at a Nissan dealership ordered the Nittos for me at $92 each. $390 total. cheapest i could find online was like $116 and those were on sale.

This is next on the agenda, I got to drive a WRX the other day and it's seats are a perfect mix of support and comfort, but they seem to be kinda hard to find at a decent price. I'm just kinda looking around at options for the time being.

Thanks for the suggestion on the tiburon seats, i'll have to look into them. Another good seat that I sat in was the Recaros that come in saturn ion redlines. they would be hard to find i'd imagine.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

I see, well the setback plates reduce the rake by 3/8". I thought you didn't put those back in with the drop leafs though.

i put them in, and noticed after we were done...so i've just been using the 3/8" to my advantage till i get my shocks.

shocks should be here tuesday. Afco makes a 1/2" block i was looking at getting, just wanna wait till it get the shocks on and the plates off before i order.

nice upgrades, i'm looking into getting one of those belltech rear swaybars for my build.
what is the point of the axle setback plates?

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

They keep the drive shaft out of the rear transmission seal when you add blocks. It moves the rear axle back 1/2".

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

^ wut he said.
installed a tranny cooler the other day and raced another auto-x.

here's some pics from the auto-x, i was first in FSP...but was the only competitor in the class. lol
Vid coming soon, gotta put it together.
Truck handled pretty good with the new setup, there was some minor wheel hop on corner exit sometimes, nothing major. Biggest issue for me was the understeer at corner entry and the awful shift response from the 4l60e...if the trans would kick down when i need it...the truck would run much faster.
As you can tell from the pics, the pavement had a bunch of gravel and sand on it, making it loose...and fun! With the vette servo, when the truck would hit 2nd, it would break the tires loose and even with the 2.2 i got to have some fun with power oversteer.
I honestly think the rear setup if fine, minus the open diff, but the front needs some work. basically the truck ride the stops in the turns...
anyone have any input on the QA1 Carrera coilover setup for street/auto-x use? or do you think just a set of adj shocks could help some?

lol, yeah I use them as spares right now. I don't feel like burning up my nice new Nittos yet, even though i'm sure they truck would do better at the auto-x with them on.

I was planning on mounting some sticky tires on the zq8's but I was recently laid off from my job so that kinda put a halt to any plans i have right now.
