Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

been a while since i've done an update...cause well...theres been nothing to update about. lol the trucks suffered a ding in the rear from what i'm guessing was from either a car or a buggy thanks to a POS shopper at wal-mart. but it's not too bad.

i'm finally getting around to fixing my transmission line. i got a 12" piece of steel tubing and two ferrel pipe connectors. while i'm fixing that i'm gonna install an aftermarket tranny cooler and probably a drain plug on the tranny pan.

i'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. i'll ask my boss and make sure. you can probably swing by during lunch (1-2) one day or after work (at like 7) and get 'r done.

hell, i got a jack and stands, we can do it in my driveway. get a pan, some RTV, and a new gasket. i'll grab a scraper from work.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

Watched the one video from inside the truck and it looks like you could really benifit from a ZQ8 or Camaro steering box. You'll be doing alot less steering wheel shuffle. I haven't auto-x my truk but I did with my '92 Z28 on Eibach and loved it.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

transmission line is repaired. 2 ferrel and barb fittings and double clamped...it's not coming loose.

also cut my pass side bumpstop bracket off...never got around to doing it. and swapped back to a 195 t-stat. i had my 2nd 180 stat screw up on me.

woot! rode over to a friends house and..."stole" some wheels. lol

idk, we were kinda on the fence about them...we think that my old ZQ-8's fit the truck better.

i've also been doing some underhood cleaning.

trying my hand at polishing some underhood stuff.

yeah, 17x8's. they're back on the camaro now though.

not really a new mod, but i just paid freakin' $60 for a new temp sending unit pigtail...so i thought i would mention it.

had a studdering problem, fixed it with a vac hose.

now i have a starting problem, sometime it fires right up, sometimes it take two times to crank up, idk what it is.

oh and hte stupid screw that holds the fuse relay box cover broke so now i have to fix taht too...

and i'm gettin a new set of tires probably saturday or so.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

update in the mail.

back about a few months after i lowered my truck i decided to gain some more suspension travel by trimming the bumpstops....worse idea ever... lol

anyways, i was looking at some stuff and noticed that a lot of g-body and impala owners order ZQ8 bumpstops, so i looked them up and sure enough, they are different than the standard ones.

they are made of urethane foam instead of rubber like the regular bumpstops.

i've also gathered everything i need to add a A/C input into my electric fan wiring, just need to get it done. also have some more polishing to do. i've been experimenting on the abs module. it takes a good bit of work, but it's coming out pretty good.

oh and i'm rolling a new shoes. Hankook Ventus HRII's.

Re: Project: sport handling on a college budget

got my bumpstops in today...

these suckers are huge compared to teh old ones.

i put them in and of course teh truck was riding them them hardcore. drove it around and the truck was still riding smooth though.

i decided to cut them down but not as crazy as my first ones...

steak knife and a xacto knife made quick work of it.

tried to match the same angle as the original top.

mounted in place.

verdict: OMG...if you have a coil drop...ORDER THESE!!!!!

what a difference, my neighborhood has manhole covers that are 3-4" lower than the pavement.

before it resulted w/ teeth chipping slam, after the new stops it was like just went through a dip in the road.

mine is dropped 3" all the way around.

i like the stance at 3"...but it could be a hair lower. i think a 4" drop would be nice, but would cost a lot more. instead of just coils and blocks, you would go with 2" spindals and 2" coils, 3" drop leafs, and 1-2" blocks. it would ride nicer than a 3" drop i would bet.

new pics:

from vacation, truck was in turned into a tackle box. lol
