Project *** - - Rags to Bags -- ***
Ok, So I finally decided to start my own Project thread. I purchased an '88 S-10 single cab with a 2.2 and manual transmission. Here it is when I brought it home. It had donut wheels and tires so I had the old owner throw on my stock wheels and tires from my old '01 s-10.
![]() I plan on doing bags front and back, new backhalf, complete tear down and clean everything, 3.5" traditional bodydrop, full shave and some other tricks I may throw in along the way. |

Well, we got a bit done this weekend. I had Tues and Wed off also. We got the interior stripped and the bed off and removed everything from under the bed. It's getting close to starting the backhalf then the bodydrop.
Here is the interior gutted: ![]() Here is the bed removed: ![]() Here is the rear: ![]() Just a little rear shot with the metal for the backhalf: ![]() |

yeah, I lucked out with this one. I thought the frame was rusted out but it turned out to be mostly dirt. The body is in great shape for an 88.

Re: Project *** - - Rags to Bags -- ***
check the specs on those re8s as far as weight to compress them and whatnot might make a difference, this is only the first page and this thing is off to a great start.

Re: Project *** - - Rags to Bags -- ***
so I looked at the stats on those bags and it says the RE8's take 80lbs to compress whereas the RE7's take 300lbs. I have 2 of both at my house and I beleive this b/c I can compress the 8's but not the 7's by standing on them. Does anyone know how this will effect a front setup?
Anyways, we are working on this this weekend and will have more pics throughout. |

Re: Project *** - - Rags to Bags -- ***
Alright, here's an update. We got started on the bodydrop this weekend and actually got a lot of it knocked out.
Here is the pinch weld removed and a shot of the way I made sure the cab was gonna lay on the ground evenly. In case anyone is wondering, yes I compensated for the 1/8" difference from the front part and the rear part of the frame unde the cab. ![]() Here is the rear wall cut out: ![]() Nice straight cut: ![]() Looks like we need some filler pieces: ![]() The firewall is missing about 3.5"...wonder where it went?? ![]() That's pretty much as far as we got on Saturday. |

Re: Project *** - - Rags to Bags -- ***
Sorry I haven't updated in a while but we have been busting a$$ to get to the frame. So anyways, enough chatter, here we go:
Huge update with tons of pics: I used the SD tubs and tried to use as much as possible. Remember I am trying to tuck 22's with a 3.5"bd. These tubs should lay on a 29" overall tire. ![]() ![]() ![]() While we were at it we took the cab off, now this was fun. It actually only took 2 of us and all we used were our hands. In other words no hoist or anything plus we carried it from under the carport, around the bush and to the side yard where it is sitting here: here is the remainder of the frame: ![]() and the cab in the yard: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The fillers finished: ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, that's it for now. Next we will be doing the frame. I have to: cut the front pockets for RE8's install my wishbone link build the tank mount comp mount dual battery mounts relocate the front bed mounts box in the frame clean the frame paint the frame Also, we have a ranger that we are about to install an airbar and shock kit on so it may delay us a bit. Otherwise, hopefully I will have another small update soon. |

I wish we had all day to work on this, still going fast but imagine if we had 8 hours a day instead of 4 or so. Ranger will set us down a little bit but shouldnt be to to long (hopefully)
