You might be wondering why this project is named this: i've been told over and over to save my money as much as possible. and i have, until now. i just graduated high school (going to pursue career as mechanic and hopefully be able to open my own shop one day) and got alot of money for it, someone hit the back end of my truck, and i got alot of money for it, i've worked countless hours at my job and have saved every penny i've made. paycheck after paycheck has been adding up to this one event. I think it's time for me to start a project thread. i've been doing whatever i can to my truck to get it to the condition it is in now, and here...9 months after i bought the truck, the true project begins. this good little truck started its life in 1998, and was owned by a cop for 9 years. then i received it at the end of September 2007.
small updates happened between Oct 07-March 08. During Spring Break, i cut her up, i got going getting the truck closer to the ground. a 5/7 drop was the ending product. I had redone the Audio with bazooka all the way around, and have not touched the engine (except clean engine bay) and won't for a while. 17x8 Cragar Soft 8's were bought during that time and new tires were bought as well. It's time for the real fun to start...... Small rundown of what is on now: -2.2 4 cyl 5-speed -81,6xx miles -tinted tails -clear corners -painted frame (to look good...will be re-done) -SS mirrors -Bazooka Audio -Sony Xplod headunit -17x8 Cragar Soft 8's (225/45/17) -5/7 Static drop And the new: -SD Control Arms -SD Shock relocator -Airlift Dominator 2500's and 2600's -8 gallon tank -1/2" valves -Antifreeze Green AVS Switchbox -weld in rollpan -shave : 3rd brake light, tailgate handle, antennae, hood pissers -2 Viair 480's -LED cluster conversion -Alpine Audio system (iDA x-100 headunit, 08 model SPS and SPR speakers) -new seats -custom shifter -relocating under hood/removal of fenderwells (if needed) Even later: -SD bolt on 5-link Let's go (and a refresher pic until further updates) ![]() Last edited by MurderedS10 : 07-01-2008 at 05:05 AM. |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
LED Conversion Update:
-scraped all the orange off needles, put some white nail polish on instead -installed all the new lights (except dome override and airbag on/off) -new under the dash light and dome light is cool white * there is a dim spot on the left of the guages but i don't mind ut much unless i decide to move to GPS somewhere else. i really like it there ![]() ![]() Last edited by MurderedS10 : 07-02-2008 at 04:05 AM. |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
got the valves plumbed and the fittings on the tank and guages.
the valves are 1/2" and the lines for guages is 1/8" ![]() i'm going to try and photoshop or draw out how i want it all to be mounted. sorry, it won't be mounted under the bed. (i'll be the only one around where i live with a bagged truck so it will be easier to show off )also: picked this beast up yesterday, going to get it mounted today hopefully. ![]() Last edited by MurderedS10 : 07-03-2008 at 02:22 PM. |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
How well can you see your GPs screen? Do you have to move to get a good view of it or can you fully see it from your regular sitting position? |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
first subscription WOOOOOOO! ![]() oh and i forgot to update on the tailgate: got the upper hardware on it but wasn't able to remove the lower hardware. i had to go to my local dealership and order them. parts come in tuesday. and on a side note for all of you wondering: the airbags and sair management system will be installed before any body work. i don't have a welder or even a 220v plug or whatever you call it so i will have to make a trip to one of my friend's friend's shop to weld and bring it back to my house for bondo + primer... Re: [Project] Paycheck
just looked it up for you, says the deck is compatable with sirius but an adapter is required. here is a link for more information: http://www.alpine-canada.com/US-en/p...model=iDA-X100 and thanks all for the good comments. i might do a little installing today. |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
Ahhhhh...............Thank you sir!
With your 5/7 drop how much clearance do you have? I have moved everything above the frame rails, and have a Pop can + 1/2" worth of room front to back on both sides. I have a 2/3 drop so I'm guess I need to go do some measuring and then work it out. LOL! Last edited by dawgnutz : 07-04-2008 at 04:35 PM. |

Re: [Project] Paycheck
with the 5/7 i have a little under a minute maid juice box of clearance: how i know: we have juice boxes at subway and lets face it, who dosent like a juice box. so i was showing off my truck to some employees and grabbed a juice box on the way out to my truck. so i'd say about 4-4.5 in. i'm running to Home Depot right now to get the rest of the fittings i need. the Viair 480's have a 3/8" leader hose and my ports are 1/2" ![]() Last edited by MurderedS10 : 07-04-2008 at 04:38 PM. |
